Neil Young "covers"

Neil Young "covers"

I noticed today that since Neil Young has played with many different groups over the years, that the songs which he's written/recorded on his own are being listed as “covers”:

That seems a bit strange, since regardless of what group he recorded them with, he most likely wrote them himself.

It seems like it would make more sense to use @Song rather than @Cover for those songs, no?

It usually is made automatically but sorry, i did most of these corrections myself and i'm not even done.

There's still Neil Young with the Stray Gators and a number of Neil Young & Booker T and MGs left to go.

http://www.setlist.fm/user/PhilippeLandry has gone nuts in the Neil Young setlists – Neil Young has fronted a number of vanity bands and even recorded a few albums with them (Intl Harvesters and Blue Notes less famously and Stills-Young and NY and Crazy Horse more famously).

I agree on the SONG instead of cover distinction.

Additionally, PhilippeLandry seems to have a history of this in Clapton, Garth Brooks and other setlists.

Also he and http://www.setlist.fm/user/ExecutiveChimp seem to be on a mission to make all of Neil Young's tours in 1984 (he did 3) all one tour name. They had three different names.

They keep reverting my changes in which I have provided links

ExecutiveChimp already explained the reason/method to me, I'll repost it here for the record:

“In order for the songs to be listed as @Song someone needs to go to musicbrainz.org and create a relationship (meaning list the band members) for all Neil's bands. Once that's done we can change it here. Anyone can do that as long as they sign in to musicbrainz… so if anybody wants to do that feel free!”

Although it messes up my personal statistics (i.e. “how many times have I seen Neil Young?”), I can see the logic in breaking up the setlists according to the full name of the group performing.

@PhilippeLandry, you only have two more to change to “+ Promise of the Real”, the most recent two on this list:

User http://www.setlist.fm/user/Stitz15 seems to have taken up the slack on reverting the tour names.

Perhaps Philippe has a sock puppet account
