If it is a seperate show list it in a seperate setlist.

If it is one show divided in different parts (eg before and after the intermission) you should use @Set[fill in the text eg 1st Set or Stage B] in a seperate line.

I recently created a setlist for an artist that had an intermission between two sets. I try very hard to follow the guidelines carefully. The “Guidelines” for creating separate sets include the following language: “Sometimes artists split their performance into several different parts or (sub-)sets. You can mark them by writing @Set[setdescription] or just @Set in a single line (without any song!). Some examples are: The concert is split into two parts divided by a pause. Write @Set[First part] and @Set[Second part] in the line before the first song of each part.”

Although my knee-jerk reaction was to write “1st Set” and “2nd Set” I decided to follow the example in the guidelines and so I wrote “First part” and “Second part.”

Shortly thereafter, a user edited the setlist (without comment) to “Set 1:” and “Set 2:” This particular user claims to have attended over 1,800 concerts of 620 artists, and has made 3,036 edits this month.

Because the aforementioned user didn't provide any explanation behind his edit I presumed that it was simply his or her subjective preference to make it “Set 1″ and “Set 2″ and so I decided to edit it to my OWN subjective preference of “1st Set” and “2nd Set' (which I noticed moderator sternfeld specifically used as an example above in response to baldymanbryh's post).

Shortly thereafter, the aforementioned user edited the setlist and reverted it back to “Set 1:” and “Set 2:' and included the following comment: “Not sure why you felt the need to change it. But. Set 1 & Set 2 is the normal protocol on setlist.fm. Check with the mods. Thanks.”

I'm not sure what he or she meant by “normal protocol” but I fail to see any guidelines that specify it should be “Set 1″ and “Set 2″ as opposed to “1st Set” and “2nd Set.” And when I scanned the forum for assistance, I found this thread, where moderator sternfeld specifically used “1st Set” as an example of how it should be done.

I know this may sound like nitpicking, but I am EXTREMELY careful about following the rules, and it drives me bananas when users change setlists based on what I perceive are nothing more than personal preferences rather than clearly established rules or guidelines.

Do I have moderator permission to edit the setlist back to “1st Set:” “2nd Set”? If permission is not granted to do so, could the guidelines please be modified to reflect that “Set 1″ and “Set 2″ should be used above all other options?

Thanks!

Oops. Well I guess you are both right. It has been “normal protocol” to list the sets as @Set[Set 1:] and @Set[Set 2:] for some time now. I guess nobody felt the need to actually change it in the guidelines. I'll bring it up with the administrators. Thank you for actually reading the guidelines though!

Thanks for your reply. I'll be sure to use “Set 1:” etc., in the future.
