At the show

AWESOME!

Dude. There are no words. Blind Guardian was amazing. The crowd was very cool. The band members were all shocked at the energy, intensity, and dedication of this group of fans.
My wife, my brother, and I were against the stage; we had to make sure Hansi and André didn't step on our fingers. Seriously.

We got them to play ...And Then There Was Silence in addition to the planned encore setlist. Hansi refused at first because they hadn't rehearsed it for the show, but my bard brothers and sisters and I didn't let up. (I got the band's setlist the drum stand from a stage hand after the show, and this song was not on it.)

Marcus and André laughed, grinned, and then said something to Hansi. Hansi said to the audience, "You guys have destroyed my authority." Then he mentioned that they hadn't rehearsed it. . . And he gave a short intro of the the song and they played the entire thing. We had a massive crowd participation interlude during the La-la la-la la la-la la-la la-la, the nightmare shall be over now, there's nothing more to fear . . . part. I had only seen this before with Vahalla.

There was an intense mosh pit, which I didn't expect at this show, but it was cool, with a very mixed group, including some guys and gals you might only expect at a rap show. When somebody fell, everyone in reach grabbed them and picked them up with a grin and a pat on the shoulder. The opening bands, Seven Kingdoms and Holy Grail both put on a good, high-energy performance, which started the moshing, or slam dance for those that remember. . .

Everyone who walked in: tiny nerd boys and girls, blue or white collar, or heavy-duty death metal biker types, all were immediately friends.

It was the coolest show, greatest band, and friendliest group of metal brethren packed into a small venue.

Finals or work, or whatever. . . Don't miss this tour if you like the band. Nothing sucks more than regret.
