This is a great set. The only change would be SSOTSS (Song) in exchange for FOTD. I think everyone would agree that would be a nice change from FOTD, give Bruce a nice break while the band rocks on, It's great Lyrics (Only 3 paragraphs) well 4, and a way better song than FOTD, and probably sold more albums. I love the drumming in this song, and the influction in the vocals from Bruce, and the guitars together, it would be a beutiful break from FOTD

Carl Forbes (http://google) June 13, 2010 4:53:08 AM UTC

Why not play Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (The Song) for Fear of the Dark for Glen Helen San Manuel in Cal. Bruce it is a easy song for lyrics, but lyrics are great, It was a great abum, and the song gives you a break while the band rocks on for a while and the crowd goes crazy. I Bet everybody would agree that would be a nice change from FOTD, give you a break, nice change of pace from songs, and the croud will go crazy. That is the only change I would make.

anon June 13, 2010 12:46:14 PM UTC

Paschendale again after Dance of Death - good move.

anon June 13, 2010 12:51:29 PM UTC

Acutally, they should do a Grateful Dead/Metallica and mix it up every night.

philipe June 13, 2010 1:11:34 PM UTC

What?!? No Powerslave or Piece of Mind?!? Waaaahhhh! You should have been at the last tour.... to damn bad, we're moving forward now, stay on board.

Juan June 13, 2010 1:36:44 PM UTC

Not a big fan of the set but what could you do? Iron Maiden will put on an amazing show playing anything from their catalog. Wrathchild, Iron Maiden, Running Free... Oh yea old school!!! Overall psyched to see them in July

agentalbert June 13, 2010 3:53:43 PM UTC

I loved the show. And I love hearing the new material from Maiden. I've heard the old classics so many times, that I prefer this. Maiden have already done two tours specifically focusing on the past in recent years. I respect them for refusing to be simply a nostalgia act.

agentalbert June 13, 2010 3:55:09 PM UTC

For those of you who were there, did you catch how Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater drummer) ripped off the drum intro to Where Eagles Dare, as one of their songs was wrapping up? That was a nice nod to Maiden.

chandler June 13, 2010 4:56:24 PM UTC

Yep I caught that... BTW, DT was great too!

anon June 13, 2010 5:35:06 PM UTC

No Trooper? Sadface

Ster June 13, 2010 9:48:52 PM UTC

Come on, IM!

We need one of either "Aces High" or "2 Minutes".

Not playing these is like Rush not playing Tom Sawyer.

Otherwise, a nice set, but I wish they'd add just ONE of these...

Rodrigo (http://www.maidenarg.com.ar) June 14, 2010 12:16:40 AM UTC

this is an amazing setlist but... why they deleted "brighter than a thousand suns", for make place to "Wrathchild"? (amazing song, but it have been played too much) , i think that is time to give a chance to the Neo-classics, like "The Wickerman" , "Paschendale" , "...Benjamin Breeg". Because if you want to listen 80' classics, for this was the "somewhere back in time world tour" ; if you missed this tour i'm sorry for you, but it's time for "make new classics" , i love this gig, i really want to hear "The Nomad" and "New Frontier" , AMAZING SONGS!!

greetings!

(sorry for my bad english, i'm from Argentina)

Mike June 14, 2010 1:52:27 AM UTC

I am not happy at all with this set list, I am a Maiden fan who never had the opportunity to go see a show until this year and i wanted to hear the classics, and the fact that 2 MInutes to Midnight, Powerslave, The Trooper and others are not on this are depressing

tunnleking (http://setlist.fm) June 14, 2010 3:09:53 AM UTC

I've been watching the setlist updates with great anticipation- seeing um Sat.19th-this is lyricallay a great show!- it seems to me to be a concept/story telling show- a young punk(wicker man)-enters the army(pashendale)- gets out(wildest dreams)- becomes disillusioned(no more lies)- turns into the beast(fear of the dark-encore)- looks pretty cool to me!

Ender June 14, 2010 3:17:28 AM UTC

No Trooper, no 2 minutes, no Aces high, no Wasted Years, no...wow. :_((

tunnleking (http://setlist.fm) June 14, 2010 3:17:38 AM UTC

I've been watching the comments/updates with great anticipation- seeing um Sat.19th- It seems to me that they're putting on a concept/story telling show- A young punk(wicker man)- joins the army(pashendale)- gets out(wildest dreams)- becomes dissillusioned(no more lies)- starts kicking ASS(fear of the dark-encore)- DONT CHANGE A THING!

Phil June 14, 2010 3:40:12 AM UTC

Horrible, horrible set list. No RUN TO THE HILLS, no TROOPER, no 2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT.

Instead we get Paschendale (what?) The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (who?) These Colours Don't Run (terrible!) and Blood Brothers.

I was out $250.00 for 4 tickets and out $110 for 3 tshirts, & $20 for a flag.

I want my money back.

Rodrigo (http://www.maidenarg.com.ar) June 14, 2010 4:00:24 AM UTC

Phil do you really want to still listening THE SAME SONGS OF ALL TIME??? oh god... i'm very tired to hear the trooper, run to the hills, 2 minutes to midnight IN ALL FUCKING SHOWS and LIVE ALBUMS and DVD's

IT'S TIME FOR MAKE NEW CLASSICS!!! THIS SETLIST IS AN "EARGASM"

Up The Irons!
and UP THE REAL FANS of Iron Maiden, that ones who love's ALL MAIDEN SONGS

DeeKay June 14, 2010 5:04:00 AM UTC

I get it. They are making a point that they are not a "Retro" band making a comeback but have always been relevant and their new songs are just as important as their classics. This can be a good thing as it will separate their real fans from those nostalgia buffs and they can start playing smaller places like the Hammerstein Ballroom again. Fuck Yeah!!!

Scott June 14, 2010 5:24:09 AM UTC

OK so Paschendale and DOD are rotating, good movie. But that's TWICE they've dropped BTATS for Wrathchild in a row! Not that I don't like WC but if you're gonna drop BTATS, put something more substantial than WC in its place, like "Afraid to Shoot Strangers", or "Dream of Mirrors". Or The Longest Day. Anyways still a great set! I guess I will find out what I get on June 26th!

Scott June 14, 2010 5:24:40 AM UTC

Whoops! I meant good move

Scott June 14, 2010 5:29:38 AM UTC

And Rodrigo- you couldn't have said it better! It seems Maiden are doing us REAL fans a favor and separating the real fans from the nostalgia buffs. I am EXCITED AS FUCK to see these amazing songs get performed live! The reunion era is my favorite. Like you said, it's time for NEW CLASSICS, but IMO, they are playing classics on this tour- BNW, AMOLAD, and DOD are classics in my book! Therefore this show is gonna be sick as hell, I can't wait. Will be the best show ever, FACT. This will be one hella awesome show, and I am excited

Rodrigo (http://www.maidenarg.com.ar) June 14, 2010 12:24:26 PM UTC

you rock Scott!
fuck the nostalgia buff ;)

Scott June 14, 2010 2:48:53 PM UTC

Thanks, you do too :D Agree, Maiden did us real fans a favor: Separate the real fans from the nostalgia buffs. So that said, it shows that Maiden AREN'T slaves to the nostalgia buffs and are doing what THEY want! That's what all good bands should do; show that they aren't on demand bands. That's one of the reasons Maiden are my favorite band!

tater June 14, 2010 3:57:38 PM UTC

This setlist sucks, anyone want to buy tickets to Saturdays show?

Erica June 14, 2010 5:50:10 PM UTC

Sooo Stoked!!! I agree the old stuff will always be classic Maiden but i'm just as excited to see some of there more recent stuff live... it's all friggin' amazing Up the Irons \m/

Gonzoberger June 14, 2010 6:24:10 PM UTC

Thought it was a good show, but I there are so many songs that I would have rather heard. They saved some of the best for last, I thought. It was a long way to travel for a mediocre set list.

kevin June 14, 2010 6:32:24 PM UTC

true maiden fan doesn care about songs are played i can't wait to see them in detroit they sound and put on a hell of a stage show one of the best i have seen so up to all that say maiden set list suck cause you are not a true fan at all up the iron horns long live maiden.

BB June 14, 2010 7:26:46 PM UTC

I'm a true Maiden fan.....thanks to some of the newer maiden fans advice I've spent the weekend checking out the three new albums. Maybe they will grow on me, and they're OK, but.......they just don't have the edge the old Maiden did. I'm only a few hours out, and unfortunately Denver is cold and rainy today. Here's my take: We are going to love the show and it will be awesome to hear some songs we haven't heard live before. We didn't get the last couple tours here in Colorado, so we didn't see the classics recently. I have seen Maiden a bunch of times, so I've seen the classics before. The local entertainment rag ran a preview that said to "expect classics like run to the hills, aces high and the number of the beast" I guess those who read that will get one song they expect. I'll love the show. There will be thousands who won't know the songs and won't love the show. A relatively short set with NOTHING from Piece of Mind, Powerslave or Seventh Son? You don't have to play the hits or songs you're tired of. Throw us a bone...play a deeper old track. I am a true Maiden fan. I'll love the show regardless. I know they want to play the newer stuff. I appreciate the fellas coming back to Colorado. Go ahead and call me a sorry fool for this post, but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed by the set list. Now I need to go pull out the winter gear for tonight. UP THE IRONS!

Zaxxon June 14, 2010 7:30:13 PM UTC

Did Bruce say anything about the world cup US vs England match. In the Houston show he was talking alot crap about it.

Vikthor Maiden (http://www.myspace.com/vikthormaiden) June 14, 2010 7:32:30 PM UTC

A setlist of the most terrible and seen and heard in the history of IRON MAIDEN I hope that Phoenix is better. Somebody do something. For the love of God and the good metal. Thanks

fb:100000236693333 June 14, 2010 7:48:32 PM UTC

Separating the fans that have supported them for 25 years from the newbies who have no clue. It will be nice for the newbie's because in the future they will have to play small clubs because they can only sell 1000 tickets. You really should alienate the people that have made you what you are. I saw the POM tour and 4 others but thsi will be my last at this price with a setlist like this.

WED June 14, 2010 8:03:55 PM UTC

I'm so excited to see them but when I purchased the tix I was hoping that they would still include atleast 2 or 3 more classics. Flight 666 is such a huge hit I'm sure people were expecting more songs from that tour. I hope they still play Wrathchild in SoCAL. Looking at the 2005 England setlist, I wander why they don't do that here in California. I wish that they would do Where Eagles Dare or Another Life. All these great English bands always play their best stuff in Europe. But I still can't wait to see them jam out in the front row. I'm sure it will still be an amazing show. It's my fault for missing those last few shows here in CA. Keep jammin Iron Maiden. I hope for more shows.

Heavy June 14, 2010 9:40:20 PM UTC

To Zaxxon, yeah he made a dig at the Ref regarding the number of Yellow and Red cards thrown I believe (didn't watch the game myself), Bruce said the Ref must have been secretly wanting a "Green card" from the U.S. He was pretty lighthearted about it.

Mark June 14, 2010 11:50:44 PM UTC

I headed to the show in Denver now. I've been a Maiden fan since the beginning, and I've jammed every album until I wore it out. I don't give a flying F$%^ what they play. I won't shed a tear because they don't play Run To the Hills, or some of the overplayed shit. It's going to rock either way. El Dorado sounds excellent.

UP THE IRONS!!!

Eddie's Brother

Sly June 15, 2010 12:58:19 AM UTC

Come on! I want Powerslave, I want Run to the Hills, Aces High bla bla bla bla....
You're not tired to hear the same songs tour after tour??? Why not Prowler, 22 acadia, Rhyme of, Alexander the great, Seventh son, Clansman???
You're not real fans to ask the same old song that we've heard thousand time.
I approve this setlist, a little bit of refreshment!!
Run to the hills!!!!!!!!!!!

Somewhere in the 80's June 15, 2010 1:16:11 AM UTC

I'm 40 yrs old and have been raised on Maiden. I've seen them in Europe and here in the states. Every show has been an audio delight. I'm gonna bust before Sunday gets here when i'm due to see them again for the 14-15th time. If you've never seen them before or are just into the nostalgia, then you're pre-destined to have a crappy night. Do yourself a favor, just go love on Maiden and anything they play. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!

eli June 15, 2010 2:47:07 AM UTC

this is a disappointment and a disgrace. maiden has been my favorite for a while. i saw them for somewhere back in time then they put this out? i have tickets to see this too. they need to put more classics in.

tunnleking (http://setlist.fm) June 15, 2010 3:00:00 AM UTC

the people complaining are just mad cause they dont know the words to these songs- i remember thinking maiden was done when powerslave came out, i thought it was stupid, EDDIE in a straight jacket, fucking retarded- not even close to the real thing- and here we are(again) they're still doing what they do and thats why they kick ass- you guys complaining should just boycott maiden, give your tickets away- stop buying 35$ mugs- stop whining like little bitches.

tunnleking (http://setlist.fm) June 15, 2010 3:03:28 AM UTC

hey mark- i'm diggin el dorado too- trying to get the chorus down before sat.

eli June 15, 2010 3:07:30 AM UTC

im not a bluff either. just the new stuff hasnt grown on me except for some stuff of dance of death or brave new worldel dorado is good but they should definately play wasted years, aces high, the trooper, and the evil that men do. i mean give the fans a bone here. NO FAN AND I MEAN NO FAN would ever mind seeing those songs. i wouldnt mind seeing phantom of the opera either

tunnleking (http://setlist.fm) June 15, 2010 3:08:13 AM UTC

excuse me. little FUCKIN bitches. thanks.

david June 15, 2010 4:14:14 AM UTC

Ok, I wen't to this show at San Antonio, you should listen the new songs, they're truly amazing. If any band came up with them they would be amazing, but as it is Maiden you just know Best of the Beast album. I was like that, but just I knew about the setlist and went to buy the albums...
They blow anybodies mind, give 'em a chance, they're MAIDEN FOR CHRIST SAKE =D they're pure quality...

Cheers, also the shirts are frickin' insane

Derrick June 15, 2010 4:47:57 AM UTC

It’s kind of disheartening to see so much whining amongst people who claim to be fans. If you want to hear “The Trooper” and “Aces High” so badly, bust out the vinyl, cassettes, CDs or what have you, and overplay those songs to your hearts’ content. If you’re going to pay hundreds of dollars for tickets, do it for the right reasons. You go to an Iron Maiden show to see IRON MAIDEN, and if you truly love this band then you’ll walk away satisfied regardless of what songs they play or don’t play.

Will June 15, 2010 9:28:50 AM UTC

i accept the people who have at least GIVEN the new cds a listen, and theyre not pleased with the set. at least they gave it a shot, its not their cup of tea. ill be the first to admit that the classics are better then this era. however, some of these songs have hardly been played to America, and since they're fan base has grown like crazy recently, especially after the last tour, they want to give the fans a taste of their newer material. reminding the world that they arent a nostalgic band. Also, this gives the hardcore fan a huge treat by giving them songs like BNW, DoD/Paschendale. im personally VERY excited to see a bunch of these songs live.

and to all the nostalgia people who just care bout the new shit and dont even bother listening to the new stuff cus they expect an older band to have shit for new stuff, fuck off. sell ur tickets and shut the fuck up.

Will June 15, 2010 9:29:18 AM UTC

care about the old shit*

Chris June 15, 2010 2:41:50 PM UTC

To all the people complaining about wanting to hear the classics. Maybe you should of went to the last couple of tours where it was basically nothing but classics. Where were ya then? I mean The Trooper has been in the setlist for how many years. Where were ya then? You're no Maiden fan. Maiden is classic. Period.

Rivethead June 15, 2010 2:49:03 PM UTC

I am disappointed with this set list. I do not need the classics again. In fact, anything from the albums since Bruce returned is fine. However, it seems to me that this list represents a Maiden "singles" set. Many first releases, Wicker, Dreams, Brigg... None of which represents the better material on any of the respective albums. Was this done in an effort to garner more US fans? If so, Maiden missed the point. Also, too much "down" time with slow intros etc. Gimme anything post 1999 and I'm good with it. I just think that too much emphasis was placed on the obvious. Nonetheless, I will be in Pittsburgh with my 2 boys screaming our heads off. Up the Irons!!

Adrian Smith June 15, 2010 6:43:46 PM UTC

I'm going to Knebworth and if they play this set i'll be happy. They've just played all the older songs on the SBIT tour and don't need to play them on this tour. UP THE IRONS.

ian June 16, 2010 9:10:30 AM UTC

ok, look to you pansey little 'live off of classic' bullshit fans, your just mad cause adrian and janick werent having to switch off on solos on cuz janick wasnt around during the 80s. this is best for maiden to play the newer stuff. i saw them in houston with my dad, and he hadnt heard anything from the 2000+ cataloge. he was verry happy to see new songs, and not hear overplayed trooper and run to the hills. get over yourselves. adrian is happy being able to play his own solos without janick being left out. all 3 guitarists had a fair amount of solos in the new stuff. if you live on the past still you probably live with your parents.

up the mothaf'n irons!

Will June 16, 2010 10:36:46 PM UTC

On a traduit mes propos en anglais....cé n'importe quoi ca......cé dla marde cette tournée la.......jai deja vendu mes billetts du show de montreal........cé dla marde cte setlist la.....

Please keep the 2010 and 2011 tours separate. There's a huge (six month) gap between them and they both have very different setlists.
