Wish there was a little more variety. This is a 1997 greatest hits setlist + the new album (true, Dawn and Poison were cut). Not too much variety in 2011 either http://www.setlist.fm/stats/megadeth-73d6aa19.html?year=2011 I am, however, not complaining as we are lucky Dave and co. are still rocking out in 2012. Also just realized Holy Wars has been closing for at least 10 years. Same thing drives me crazy with Seek & Destroy!
I agree with the above comments. I was going to the Chicago show but decided against it after seeing the setlists for the tour. I LOVE MEGADETH... but I've heard these songs enough already. HEY DAVE!!! Change up yer setlist!!!! It's boring!!!! Play stuff off System, Abominations, Endgame, and stop ignoring KIMB!!!
full disclosure: i love megadeth. i would've put the happy birthday note in the setlist but i didn't know who he was singing to because IT WAS TOO QUIET! the instruments sounded good but there were not enough of them. also, either work on the vocal channel or get dave an omnidirectional mic because he was hard to hear the whole night. everyone around me was chanting "TURN IT UP! TURN IT UP!"
i think mustaine has kinda painted himself into a corner with his setlists. he probably won't play any non-ellefson stuff (system, abominations, endgame, etc) and certain songs he won't play out of respect for his religion (conjuring, looking down the cross, etc). he's probably not gonna do much from 'so far...' because they were pretty screwed up on chemicals at the time. he obviously plays songs that mean a lot to him (trust, tout le monde) because they keep showing up.
they have enough material they could mix it up every couple shows unless he feels that they would not be as tight if they kept changing the sets.
Completely agree with Cones...the sound for Megadeth was horrible! Couldn't hear any vocals/banter, high end for solos was bad, no bass, and everything was generally quiet and muddled. It was like you were watching them on Youtube. As a result, there was no energy in the theater whatsoever during their set. Plus, the projection screen behind them was totally messed up with strips missing, so that, for example, "Gigantour" read "Gi nt ur." Inexcusable for the price of the ticket...plus a generic and short setlist. This type of show in a fairly intimate venue is supposed to be for the true fans (like me) who have seen many Megadeth shows over multiple decades. They could at least throw in a couple of rare gems. Thoroughly disappointing show--an opinion generally held by all of the superfans in my section. Just wanted to rock out at a Megadeth show but was sorely disappointed.
WaMu name dropped in 2009, reverted to previous and now current name of The Theater at Madison Square Garden
