If Metallica are taking the stage around 9:00pm, the show should be over between 11:00pm and 11:30pm.
^^^^ Show finished around 11:30ish
@ Aaron
The Sword were on at 7pm sharp till 7:30.
Fear Factory were on at 7:45 - 8:30
Metallica came on at 9:15 and it finished about 11:20.
To be honest, I wasn't all that excited by last night's concert. After the build up of 'Ecstacy of Gold' they should have opened with a classic like Creeping Death or Battery - not a slow Death Magnetic song. Also, unlike last time (2004 for me) the setlists don't change and, for me, it became a bit too predictable. I would have prefered less Death Magnetic songs and more oldies or surprises. Maybe that will teach me not to look at concert setlists before I go.... :) Playing in the round is a great idea and I think that unless there was a lighting rig in the way everyone got a good view regardless of their seats.
Fear Factory were really good and a definite highlight. I didn't know any of The Sword's stuff so they didn't do much for me although I like what I've seen on youtube.
The Sword were pretty awesome for a band i had never hurd be4. Fear factory were a letdown and arnt the right style to be opening for metallica. All together the show was fucking awesome, scored myself 2 picks a beachball and James Hetfield talked to me. Fuel, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Master of Puppets and Seek and Destroy were awesome for me
I thought the beachballs at the end were a great idea. Looked great from the seating. I've loved Fear Factory since about 1995. Been waiting to see them since 1996. Demanufacture is one of my all-time favourite albums.
Um, how can the set list for the tour change? That was the first show!! Metallica change their set more than any other band throughout a tour.
THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!!!
Been to all Metallica shows in Melbourne except Black tour.
Had the time of my life and I spent it with my BEST mate on the barrier!!!
Everyone played tight
Sound was perfect
Stage was Awesome
View from the centre barrier was brilliant
I have a drum stick, DM pick, JH sweat band, a Black ball
Lots of Merch, Good selection, not impressed with the T's but I bought one
Everyone was singing, screaming, smiling and loving the show
I have GA tix to 2 more shows
@ Shmick - From reading the other setlists from the Death Magnetic tour concerts they seem to look quite similar. They may do something different tonight. I will wait and see.
Does anyone remember when James Hetfield said "What does that even meen? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?" That was to me, in regards to my sign that said LARS IS STOCK
I take back anything I may have said about the unvaried setlist. I should have gone to the Thursday show. Great setlist....Battery, Creeping Death, Holier Than Thou, Unforgiven, Justice..! Wow!
@ Doin:
Told ya dude.
They vary it based on what hasn't been played as much in each city.
I have tickets for the second November show so will see what they do then.
as long as they play fade to black i am happy
