Does anyone know why they did so few songs from their most recent albums? Just 1 from 'With Teeth', 1 from Year Zero, and I don't think they did any from 'The Slip' unless I missed one. It was a good gig but as it's their last tour for a while I expected a lot more rocky songs and newer ones. And no SIN??
Probably because it was the 'Wave Goodbye' tour and Reznor publicly stated that they'd be playing a good handful of hits as well as tracks that they've never played before like I'm Afraid Of Americans and La Mer. They have far too many top class tracks to please everyone. Where was Closer? The Perfect Drug? Into The Void? Something I Can Never Have? They'd be there all night if they wanted to please everyone and considering they hardly paused for breath over the course of two hours, I don't think there's much room for complaint.
Martin your observations are right. Trents been putting in a lot of "career spanning" stuff in this tour, but I was surprised there was nothing at all from The Slip also as Manchester fans will have never seen those songs live.
The Downward Spiral and The Fragile were the best represented albums and that's no bad thing as far as I'm conserned.
The Becoming / Afraid of Americans were a great pair and i'd never seen NIN play them before... the last 7 songs were amazing and reminded us all what we are all gonna miss
Maybe Im confused but I seem to remember them going into Hurt and finishing with Head Like a Hole....... The band will be sorely missed on the tour circuit
They definitely played Something I Can Never Have, I went for a piss and a pint during. Can't remember whereabouts though... Pretty sure it was a few songs before La Mer.
Above poster - they definitely didn't do something I can never have. I watched it all and noted down the setlist and it was the same as this.
I can say they definitely didnt play something I can never have. I was hoping for it and didnt leave at all.
I just wanted to say that this whole gig was absolutely amaing apart from Mu or Mew who are shit....
I wish they'd have played stuff from the slip but everything they did play was incredible plus i got to touch Trent when he came in the crowd for what i think was the end of piggy!!!!!!!!!!
All the heavy songs were mental and i thought La Mer was absolutaly beautiful and to end with Hurt was perfect!
I was the tall guy in the white t shirt moshing for anyone who was in the pit!
Mew is usually a great live act, but this time I was surprised that they were bit poor.
I thought it was an amazing gig. Me and my bro were up in the heavens but I was still in awe of the performance. I last saw them back in 2000 at Glastonbury on their Fragile tour and they were amazing then but this was something else. A fitting way to end touring for Trent and the band.
Thanks for all the good times NIN.
This was the first time i ever saw NIN, and i know i won't be seeing them again for an extremely long time... but as far as set lists go this was absolutely amazing, yeah sure there was no 'the slip' stuff but instead you got a best of selection, and what seemed like a few instrumentals that sounded alot like Ghosts stuff... the best section of the night in my eyes was 'Gone, still' 'The way out is through' and 'Wish' and i was nearly in tears by the time 'Hurt' played... i'm so glad my friend gave (yep that means free :P ) me a ticket to see them, i feel so privaliged.
this truely was a 'Wave Goodbye', thanks for the memorys...
