WOW! Did he really do Golden Slumbers too? In 2009 at Citi Field he did not. I would LOVE to know, seeing him tomorrow! Thanks! :)
LimeiBook86:
Yes, he did play Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End at the Yankee Stadium show. I almost fainted. I'm almost positive he hasn't played it since the 1990 World Tour. Amazing change on his part. The Sgt. Peppers (Reprise)/The End medley is an incredible ending also but he's been doing it since at least 2000, maybe earlier. Just when I thought the surprises were done, he completely floored me. I don't think anyone left unimpressed.
He did! It was acsolutely fantastic- I almost died on the spot
Wonderful! I saw it in 2009 with my girlfriend on our first date. She's in Italy for school and won't be back in time to see it, Golden Slumbers is her fav, I'll have to record it somehow. She's gonna flip when she finds out. THANKS! Glad you enjoyed the show! :) BTW what time did the concert start around?
I meant to say that we saw him at Citi Field in 2009 (July 17th show) :)
Show started at 8:35 when the ticket said 8. He played till 11:05 and the show was just nonstop fun. From the surprise opener of Hello Goodbye, to the super obscure Juniors Farm which I was hoping would get played, to The Night Before (one of my all time favorite Beatles songs), to I Will. The whole show was just phenomenal. I saw him at the Citi Field show as well, and while that show was also great, the show tonight was just off the charts. You'll absolutely love it all.
Fantastic, great thank you for your little mini-review. There was a greater delay at Citi Field (1st night) as you may remember with the weather. Glad you enjoyed the show, I know I will ! :-)
He also teased Foxy Lady (Hendrix) . I believe it was between All My Loving and Jet.
If you're going tonight, have fun!
Cool! He did his Foxy Lady tease with 'Let Me Roll It' on the 7/17/09 show in Citi Field. :) I'm looking forward to tonight! :) Do you know what the stadium's policy on cameras was? I'm in the nose-bleeds and want to see if I can take a few pics :) Thanks!
Foxy Lady may have come after Let Me Roll It.....I don't believe there was any issue with Cameras....There were flashes going off constantly.
Another highlight provided by the crowd (at least for the Yankee fans) was the Yankee Stadium roll call "Paul-Mc-Cart-Ny clap-clap-clap-clap-clap" Paul seemed to like it.
They did the 'Paul-Mc-Cart-Ny-clap clap clap' at Citi Field in 2009 as well, I have a feeling he'll be getting a lot of that while touring baseball stadiums! :)
What a phenomenal concert. Paul & his band performed amazingly. Hey, does anyone recall which song it was that he said hr hadn't performed live before last night? For the life of me I can't remember what it was!
That song was 'The Night Before' (the one which he never played before live!)
I'm new to Setlist, so will let someone who know what they are doing edit the entry above. Couple of issues:
1. Paul definitely played Foxy Lady instrumental after "Let Me Roll It", like he has for many years. The entry for Paul on 7-16-11 is correct.
2. Why do you have "I Will" as a Paul McCartney song? It was originally released on "The Beatles" (aka The White Album)...I have it in vinyl here from 1968 :)
