To Pete:
I can't believe I find somebody that attended this show! Not only Randy kicked butt, the whole band did! It broke my heart to see such a small audience, but at the same time it blew me away that still they put such an amazing show, how professional they were. I got a pic with Henny!
Why do you say that they did no encore? They did Hands of Time and Chainbreaker.
Yes, they split early, especially for me and my wife, we drove 4 hours from Dallas and back, just for the concert. But then again, the show was so perfect that we drove back satisfied.
It's not "Pamala", it's "Pamela". And she also sang in Hands of Time.
You rock dude!! Go Primal Fear and the Metal Commandos!

When I say they did no encore I mean they never left the stage. They actually stripped two songs from the setlist which was going to be the encore. I met all of them as well. It was nice to see Alec back in the band. A long time Sinner guitarist along with Henry W.

Victor September 4, 2010 1:16:10 AM UTC

Oh, I see. For some reason I did feel that was an encore, now I don't know why.

I don't know why those guys are not a bit popular here in the States. They kick major ass. And they have a strong Priest influence (without copying Priest) and Priest is popular. And Ralph is one heck of a singer. Those who don't follow PF are really missing on something...

Pete_Mote September 4, 2010 2:31:19 AM UTC

Agreed. very strong band throughout the 90's. If you like Ralph and you dont have of his stuff from Tyran Pace or Gamma Ray you should pick it up. All the Sinner stuff is definitely worth taking a listen to.
Unless your into the metal magazines and or Euro metal most would not be aware of Primal Fear; especially in the US. I thought it was cool that they made the effort to tour through the USA. I doubt it will happen again, but I amy be wrong. I'm sure they will be back to Atlanta for the Prog Metal tour they have each and every year. Hammerfall was all touring through the USA this year. Raven will
be making their way to Dallas in October. Looking foward to that show. I'm sure the crowd will be thin.

I'd say very strong band throughout their career. I love all of their CDs (maybe not so much Devil's Ground). The last 3 are excellent too. Almost no band can show such a record, most have great albums and shitty albums, but these guys are impressive.
I do have all of Gamma Ray CDs, which includes the 1st three with Ralph; that's how I got to know him actually and that's how I got to Primal Fear, when I was "where is this singer now??". Is Tyran Pace any good, or does it sound like cheesy 80s bland metal? I heard their name, but never listened. Same with Sinner. Are they good or kinda cheap?
After seeing how many we were over there, I can almost bet my life that they won't tour the US again. I buy their CDs, bought a t-shirt at the concert, bought the tickets, try to have my friends listen to them...I can't support them anymore! It's cool they came, but I bet their expectations were higher. I think they should tour opening for Priest, to be known by that audience.
They are not doing ProgPower this year. I flew to Atlanta in 2008 to catch Gamma Ray and Helloween (what a night!!). Had PF been there, that would have been more than what words can describe. A few days before this PF show, I caught Maiden and Dream Theater in Dallas, so I saw these 3 amazing bands in a matter of days. That won't happen again, for sure!
Hammerfall is doing the next ProgPower.
Never listened to Raven either (too many bands, ain't got time for all!). How good are they?
Are you from Dallas?

Pete_Mote September 10, 2010 8:41:28 PM UTC

Yes, from Dallas. Tyran Pace is a great traditional metal. It's mid 80's. I'm pretty confident they did not expect to be playing packed houses all around in the USA. Raven is an early NWOBHM
band. Great stuff as far as I'm concerned. Speed Metal. Keep the torches lit!

The show was killer. sad that it was such a crappy turnout. I think the main reason for that was Iron Maiden was in town the night before.

They played just Fighting The Darkness or the "long" version with The Darkness and Reprise as they use to do?
