Change for app approved, but API key still inactive
Posted 18 Mar 2025, 9:58:37
Hi!
I am using the Setlist.fm API in an application I am developing. The API key is inactive, so I requested reactivation, multiple times over the past month.
I got an email with `The change for your app “Playlistr” has been approved.`, but the API key is still INACTIVE.
Can someone help me reactivate the API key?
Thanks in advance!
Mandy.

Hi,
I checked your key and it got activated yesterday and then deactivated again early this morning (GMT) because it hasn't been used for a longer period of time. Which is not ideal of course, sorry. Anyway, I wrote a bug report to fix this and added a second key to your settings. The easiest way is to use the new key, but if you're dependent on the old one, then the workaround is to request activation again and then immediately fire a few requests using the key.

Hi Michi,
Thanks for your reply and creating a new API key, it works flawlessly!

Sorry about this Mihol, you ran into a bug. I've added new API key to your account and deleted the old one. You can find it in your API settings

Hello – I seem to have run into the same issue – email indicates the API approval, but it is listed as 'inactive' in my account. Could you help me out also? Thanks.

I'm having a similar issue. I had a long abandoned project that I was going to start working on again and I have an API key, but it's inactive.

Please go to your API settings and click on “Request upgrade/edit details”. There you can select “Please reactivate my API key”. If you don't request any other changes it should be automatically approved and the key should be active again.
Let me know if you have any issues!

I requested a reactivation of my key also. But the key is still marked inactive and I get a “forbidden” when trying it. I requested twice and got approved emails each time.

@sharmony, sorry, you ran into the same bug mentioned above. Please check your API settings for a new key that should work. We left the old key there for us to investigate the issue further, we'll delete it once we found the bugger.
