Cover assignments

Something needs to be done with this entry:
https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/fleetwood-mac-7bd6bef0.html?songid=43d2abdf

The topic of Fleetwood Mac and their two completely different songs with the same title Angel has popped on the forum a couple times in the past, but with no resolution.

1974 song Angel was written by Bob Welch and it was later rerecorded by him solo in 2003 for a solo album.

1979 song was written by Stevie Nicks.

I propose to merge performances of 1974 song into Bob Welch solo track, rather than using awkward Angel (1974) and Angel (1979) as was suggested on the forum a few years ago. https://www.setlist.fm/song/bob-welch/angel-63f0be17.html

The 'Angel 1974' suggestion is really the best we can do.

Saw Graham Nash last night. He played Bus Stop, this was written by Graham Gouldman but the first version was by Nash's former group The Hollies. It's listed as being from a Graham Gouldman album (The Graham Gouldman Thing) from 1968, The Hollies version was released in 1966

This is the basic cover assignment as per the guidelines.
Gouldman wrote the song, he was never part of The Hollies and he released it under his own name. So yes, a Graham Gouldman song.

I would say a Hollies song written by Graham Gouldman, the original version that is very well known.

^If we did it that way, then every time Gouldman played his own song, then it would be listed as a Hollies cover.

I think I know the answer but just want to be certain

https://secondhandsongs.com/performance/1422477/all

The song is “It's Your Love”. It was written by Stephony Smith and became a hit duet for country singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Later, the songwriters demo Smith used to pitch it to the duo was released on a compilation album ( Original Songwriters Demos 2).

While it was never intended for wide release when recorded, I am guessing that compilation release will now make it a cover of Stephony Smith?

I think it depends on whether the '2010 demo' was officially released on not. If 'Original Songwriters Demos 2' is an official release, then it will become a cover of Stephony Smith.

See above setlist. I don't know what is considered proper in these situations so I didn't know how to fix.
Similar to the tour when Billy Joel and Elton John toured together with each doing a solo set then a combined duo set.

In this case, Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye and Sammy Kershaw each performed two short sets as a trio bookending solo sets by Raye and Kershaw in between.

At least one of the Kershaw songs is showing up as Raye covering Kershaw. This is from Kershaw's solo set though so it's completely incorrect.

Should I separate the Raye and Kershaw solo sets out to their own separate setlists with an info indicating where they fell in the concert sequence? Or is this one of those one-off situations where the site is going to be a little wrong?

^That's a big problem with combined setlists. Some people like to enter them like that so that you can see the flow of the whole show, but it ends up with very odd results.

I'm not sure if we have ever settled on a set policy for those kinds of situations, but I generally favor separating the sets. For example, the original Byrds (or three of them) did some reunion shows in the late 80's, with each of the three members starting with a solo set. I ended up separating the three solo sets as mini-shows, because otherwise it looked like The Byrds had covered songs David Crosby's solo stuff, or songs by Chris Hillman's Desert Rose band. In fact, the Byrds never played those songs, so I think it makes the stats misleading.

I believe there would have to be a bulk edit done to these instances where Sam Hunt played “Cop Car”. These all say Keith Urban cover, but Sam Hunt wrote and released the song, so I believe per setlist.fm's guidelines, it wouldn't be considered a cover. https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/sam-hunt-6bd8268e.html?songid=5bd94bc0
https://musicbrainz.org/recording/5ffc4b18-4784-4b77-970a-fd6f908819d4
And then also, any time Keith Urban (or another artist) performed “Cop Car”, it should say “Sam Hunt Cover”.

Same goes for these instances where Sam Hunt played “We Are Tonight”. They all say Billy Currington cover, but Sam Hunt wrote and released the song.

^You appear to be right. You can request the bulk edit yourself if you like.

I don't know if this is the place to post this, put the song “No quiero que mientas” feon the colombian heavy metal band Titán is being tagged by the autocorrector as a cover, and that is an error. That one is an original song by Titán. ¿How an we solve this?

Thanks

Are they two different songs with the same name?

If so, you can remove the cover assignment and unclick the autocorrector when you do it, but please provide some kind of source when you do.

Hello throughout the trans Siberian orchestra set lists the Somg “What Child Is This” is attributed as a William Chatterton Dix cover however music brainz has it listed as a revision
https://musicbrainz.org/recording/19d91119-4e02-4c70-b8b2-d51be598d91c
I see nothing in the guidelines about revisions versus covers however I also know that there is a decent amount of original music in the song and the traditional song What Child is This only really makes up the first part as seen here Traditionally. https://music.apple.com/us/album/what-child-is-this/1293259210?i=1293259845
