Problems with venues

Re: Problems with venues

I tried to post a setlist and I got this message, “The date you entered is outside the open/close dates of this venue.”
It's not. I was there. How do I fix this? Thanks.

Well, for one thing you need to tell us which venue you are talking about. We can adjust the dates if necessary. That message comes up with regard to name changes, so check your ticket stub.

Please correct “Open” dates for this venue using two different names.

Painters Mill Star Theatre:
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/painters-mill-star-theatre-owings-mills-md-usa-bd261aa.html
should be Open from 1981-1984.

5 years after closing, and a renovation, it reopened as Painters Mill Theatre (dropped the “Star”):
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/painters-mill-theatre-owings-mills-md-usa-7bd32e94.html
should be Open from Feb. 14, 1990 – Mar. 18, 1991.

Here's the proof. A newspaper article confirming the venue name and the Feb. 14, 1990 show for kd lang was the first show, and Mar. 18, 1991 was the date of the fire that closed it permanently:
https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1991-03-19-1991078125-story.html
Also, here's a newspaper solicit confirming the venue name without Star:

Another venue name change.

This property was called “Utah State Fairgrounds” from a long time ago until 1988. In July 1988, the name was changed to the “Utah State Fairpark”. The Coliseum was a building on the property until it was demolished in 1997.

In the late 80's and 90's, shows were solicited in newspapers and on ticket stubs as “Fairpark Coliseum”.

So, this should be “Utah State Fairgrounds Coliseum” or “Fairgrounds Coliseum”, Open from 1913-1988:
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/state-fairgrounds-coliseum-salt-lake-city-ut-usa-63d626bf.html?page=9

This should be “Utah State Fairpark Coliseum” or “Fairpark Coliseum”, Open from 1988-1997:
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/utah-state-fairpark-coliseum-salt-lake-city-ut-usa-6bd32e8e.html

Proofs:

Here's the National Register of Historic Places application from 1980, confirming the “Utah State Fairgrounds” name:
https://npgallery.nps.gov/ NRHP/GetAsset/NRHP/81000583_text

Here's information referencing the name change to “Utah State Fairpark” in 1988:
https://www.deseret.com/1988/7/10/18771337/it-s-only-fair-that-grounds-get-dressed-up-to-meet-you
https://www.deseret.com/1989/9/6/18822588/what-will-palace-be-without-main-tenants
I cannot find any references to “Utah State Fairpark” prior to 1988.

https://www.setlist.fm/venue/place-des-arts-montreal-qc-canada-5bd62b34.html

has the same address as
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/theatre-maisonneuve-montreal-qc-canada-3d6d9bb.html

These two places are both part of a big huge complex of venues.

the Place des Arts itself
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Place_des_Arts#Theatres

inaugurated in 1963

-------
This one which is part of the same complex doesn’t has the same address.
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/maison-symphonique-de-montreal-montreal-qc-canada-23d714c7.html

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maison_symphonique_de_Montréal
inaugurated in 2011

-------
This one
https://www.setlist.fm/venue/theatre-port-royal-montreal-qc-canada-3d44d5b.html
inaugurated in 1967

is since 1991, known as

https://www.setlist.fm/venue/theatre-jean-duceppe-montreal-qc-canada-53d42b95.html

i believe it’s probably the same address because it’s the exact same place

Hi, I'm experiencing an error with the venue Lansing Civic Players Hall (https://www.setlist.fm/venue/lansing-civic-players-hall-lansing-mi-usa-3d3dd27.html) I was trying to add a setlist for The Crucifucks who played the night of 6/16/1982 there along with Meatmen and Minor Threat, but it says the venue was not open that day, which is obviously not true because the Meatmen and Minor Threat setlists are posted for that day. Please fix this so I can add that setlist.

Lansing Civic Players Hall fixed. Thanks for the heads up. The open/close dates were completely wrong. Do you know if it's still open? The last date for it that I can find is 2005.

Thanks for fixing that. It is no longer open, however I do not know the date it closed.

According to the (now defunct) website OrkAlarm.co.uk, Magma played a concert in Luce, France, on March 4, 1972.
https://web.archive.org/web/20170824154749/http://www.orkalarm.co.uk/?page_id=53
(28) is in parenthesis, which denotes the department of France it is in, which in this case is Eure-et-Loir. However, when I try to add the “unknown venue”, it's not listed in the menu of cities. Why is that?

https://www.setlist.fm/venue/smiths-alternative-bookshop-canberra-australia-43d5bbf7.html

Can you change the name of the venue from “Smith's Alternative Bookshop” to just “Smith's Alternative”. As per their website and Facebook page https://www.smithsalternative.com/about-us-1265

Yes, the venue used to be a book shop, but the owners have not explicitly used that in their branding since taking over the space in 2015. See also https://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-22/smiths-alternative-in-canberra-saved-from-closure/6412270

https://www.setlist.fm/venue/apollo-theater-new-york-ny-usa-73d63e69.html

Info warns: Not to be confused with the Broadway theatre venue Apollo Theatre on 42nd Street (opened in 1920 and demolished in 1996).

There’s only one Apollo Theater listed so i’m pretty sure that a whole lot of setlist are not assigned to the right one.

https://www.setlist.fm/venue/paradox-theatre-montreal-qc-canada-53d457ad.html

The venue should be renamed
Théâtre Paradoxe
even when you ask for the english page, it remains called Théâtre Paradoxe

5959 Boulevard Monk
Montréal, QC H4E 3H5

https://www.theatreparadoxe.com

Even though the website talks about a century, the venue opened in 2014. I have asked for the setlist located there in 2002 to be deleted
