Stray Cats Announce First Live Show In 10 Years

American rockabilly band Stray Cats have announced they are reuniting for their first show in over a decade. The group, originally formed in 1979, is fronted by singer/songwriter, Brian Setzer, who embarked on a separate musical endeavor in the late 1990s with his swing revival band, the Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Stray Cats are the rockabilly pioneers behind hit singles like "Stray Cat Strut," "(She's) Sexy + 17," "Look at That Cadillac," "I Won't Stand in Your Way," "Bring it Back Again," and "Rock This Town," a track that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame named as one of the songs that effefctively shaped rock and roll music. The group released more than eight albums since their formation, the latest being Rumble in Brixton, their live album which dropped in 2004.

Towards the peak of their success, Stray Cat's members started to form separate side projects. After a European and North American run which wrapped up at the New Orleans World's Fair, the band decided to part ways and further their individual careers.

10 years later, the Long Island-bred trio have announced that they will share the stage again this spring, to headline the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend on April 21. Viva Las Rockabilly Weekend is the largest Rockabilly music festival in the world, drawing over 20,000 music fans to The Orleans Hotel and Casino. The festival includes burlesque shows, bowling, “jiving lessons,” and of course- live music.
