Live Photos: Third Eye Blind Play The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles

American rock group Third Eye Blind brought their signature brand of post-grunge, pop rock to the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California on Monday, January 14.
Since 1997, Third Eye Blind has established themselves as a staple in the rock community and have recorded four best-selling albums. Helping to project the longevity of their music are their hits, "Semi-Charmed Life," “Never Let You Go,” “Blinded” and “Narcolepsy.” Their debut album peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 chart, sold six million copies, went seven times platinum and was recently re-released on its 20th Anniversary. More than two decades later, the band is still going strong and continues to record and tour. After a 2016 festival run that included appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and others, the band completed a 20th Anniversary celebration last summer and toured last fall. In August, Third Eye Blind released a new EP, Thanks for Everything, a collection of mostly of little-known cover songs, by the likes of Santigold, Tim Buckley, Chastity Belt and Queens of the Stone Age. Stephen Jenkins said of the cover album:
"In gratitude and support for all that inspires us, we offer this little album. The idea with this EP was to amplify some of that music and art, and in doing so, catch inspiration for our next album. It’s a visual version of what we’re doing with these artist’s songs. We find art or music in one place, and then we take it someplace else. In both cases, I hope it will yield renewed interest in the originals."
Prior to their performance at the Roxy and to help ensure an unforgettable night, the venue shared via social media phones would not be permitted during the show. This didn't seem to put a damper on the night at all, however, judging by the crowds excited screams and echos that can be seen in a video the band posted via Twitter!
While we may not have the official setlist from their recent show, it’s easy to guess the rockers tackled some of their most known hits as well as some re-invented covers from their latest EP. The rock anthem "Graduate," their thought provoking "Jumper," and the pop/rock “Semi-Charmed Life” were likely played throughout the night to an eager crowd, with a rendition of Happy Diving's "10" making an appearance.
