Sasami Ashworth is a seasoned musician. She's lend a hand to plenty of local Los Angeles projects including Dirt Dress and most notably Cherry Glazerr. But that's not the extent of it, she's contributed her classically trained skills to artists like Curtis Harding, Wild Nothing, Vagabon and King Tuff.
Ashworth is finally taking the reigns and putting out music entirely her own, and the results are addictive. She only has three singles out thus far, but will release her debut album SASAMI on March 8th via Domino Records.
Watch the music video for "Jealousy" below:
Her songs are for anyone who is a lover of synth-pop like Broadcast, or darker harmonious bops, as Ashworth creates her own avant-pop world within her diaristic songwriting. The new album enlists help from plenty of buds including Dustin Payseur of Beach Fossils, Devandra Banhart, and French singer Soko and features 16-tracks.
Listen to her dreamy single "Not the Time" below:
The FADER has already awarded her the title of "next big thing in rock," Pitchfork has validated her tunes with a "Best New Music" stamp and are almost eagerly awaiting to hand over "Best New Album" once that drops, and she has co-signs by her talented peers like Japanese Breakfast and Mitski.
Once SASAMI is unleashed, it's only uphill for the Californian, and it's about damn time. Once you fall in love with the album, make sure to catch her on tour where you can really witness her shred in her natural habitat.
She will head to Europe next month with an album release show in London, followed by a North American tour, see the dates below!
