Olivia Rodrigo, Insane Clown Posse, Luke Combs, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are not the sort you'd find on a single Apple Music playlist together or even mix tape.
But the brave bookers at Bonnaroo have invited them all to take part in 2025's gathering of the everyones June 12-15 in Manchester, Tennessee.
And it sounds as wonderful as creole gumbo, a Vegas buffett, and a block party pot luck rolled in one.
Bonnaroo's Festival Director says that now that the multi-day event is going on its 22nd year, attendees who arrived two decades ago are now bringing their kids, thus a grand opportunity to please an entire family is possible with a radically unique line up.
"How do we start fostering and cultivating a younger fanbase that’s excited to come to the show, while still catering to the loyal OGs who want to stick around and keep having fun," Bonnaroo's Brad Parker posed to Consequence of Sound.
"That’s what you’re seeing with this year’s lineup, putting a band like Queens of the Stone Age next to an act like Olivia Rodrigo. They obviously have separate fanbases from a generational perspective, but sonically, there are ways to bridge the gap. And hopefully, we’re also introducing some of our younger fans to acts their older cousins or even their parents grew up listening to.
"For example, a band like Megadeth: They’re an iconic metal band, but let’s be honest, no Olivia Rodrigo fan grew up listening to Megadeth. Still, putting them on the same lineup creates this interesting mix where everyone might discover something new."
Anyone could assemble an all-star group of totally different artist together and let everyone run wild around a variety of stages. But Bonnaroo went one step further. Some of your favorite "jam bands" like to play entire weekends utilizing completely different setlists, as developed and mastered by the mighty Grateful Dead.
Australia's King Gizzard are one of the newer groups who can sell out a three day weekend and bombard its audience with dozens of songs from their enormous and ever-growing catalogue.
So the fest is letting them go nuts with Roo Residency where the group will play three different sets over three nights, as the founders intended.
For some this might be worth the price of admission alone. For others, this will be their first time to witness what all the commotion is, live, and if they don't like it they can bop over to another stage... and then try it again the next day if the vibes are better.
"We’ve been toying with the idea of a residency for a while, but we wanted to make sure that whatever we presented as our first official residency felt true to the concept of having three distinct performances across multiple stages and multiple days," Parker said. "King Gizzard have obviously been on an incredible run over the past three years, and their last performance at Bonnaroo was a massive hit."
King Gizzard is like an eclectic festival show all unto its own. But if that's not wild enough, mix in Action Bronson, Avril Lavigne, Gorillaz, Insane Clown Posse, Justice, Mannequin Pussy, Modest Mouse, Nelly, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Remi Wolf, RL Grime, Slightly Stoopid, Saint Motel, Vampire Weekend, and Tyler The Creator, among others.
The sensory overload just looking at all those names together might give you flashbacks if the magic potions many will consume won't on its own.
Please say there will be an ICP + RKS + KLWG on stage mashup of AC/DC round midnight.
No need to make a deal with the devil to enjoy this crazy music, tickets are available at face value right now.
Go to the Bonnaroo website for all the packages and when you go, tell Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope whoop whoop for me.
