Metric's 2019 "Art of Doubt" Tour Highlights

It's one of the most unified co-headlining tours of the year! This North American tour entirely brings together all countries from the continent. You have Canadian rock staples Metric, Grammy-award winning Mexican alt-rockers Zoé, and Canadian opening band July Talk, performing for US citizens.

The unity of the cultures certainly is a talking point for the two headlining bands during their sets. Zoé's lead singer León Larregui told fans in Boston:

“I think music really is the language of the universe,” he said. “It doesn’t matter where you come from.”

Emily Haines solidified this sentiment during the Metric set, stating “We’re going to unite this continent." The cultural marriage invites out a myriad of fans to each show to share one thing, amazing live music.

Metric have been dishing out a 19-20 song setlist that celebrates their newer material off their latest album, Art of Doubt. They fire off each night with "Love You Back," then pepper in a few tracks off older albums as the night goes on.

They've made sure to please the fans that have been supporting them since the beginning with gratifying deep cuts. Their kickoff show saw "Combat Baby," but got switched out with synth-anthem "Dead Disco" since. Their Brooklyn gig on February 18th had the pleasure of hearing BOTH classics that evening.

Other deep cuts they've included was "Twilight Galaxy" and "Monster Hospital," twice so far, and other setlist mainstays like "Gimme Sympathy," "Help I'm Alive" and "Black Sheep." We anticipate Metric to tack on other deep cuts, as the band was taking setlist requests via Instagram Stories prior to the tour kickoff - I requested "Hustle Rose" and "Wet Blanket," crossing my fingers!

Metric aren't sticklers about saving their hits for last. In a recent interview, guitarist Jimmy Shaw confessed

"I find that thing of rewarding your fans with their favorite song after 17 new songs is so irritating. I've left so many concerts because even legacy bands just refuse to play the hits. Why would you write a good song if you refuse to play it for the next 25 years? It's so stupid! So, for us, we're just trying to balance out what would make the best show in the moment."
