Green Day Played a 20-Song Set on Billie Joe's Birthday in 1998

Happy Birthday to Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong! The veteran punker turns 49 years young today, February 17th. To celebrate, we're throwing it back to Billie Joe's 26th birthday, when Green Day made a stop in Zurich, Switzerland during their 1998 Nimrod tour.
The band opened their 20-song set at Volkshaus with the only 39/Smooth track that made the cut, "Going to Pasalacqua." The rest of the set was an even split between nimrod. and Dookie songs, including their 4th and 5th most-performed songs to date - "Hitchin' a Ride" and a cover of Operation Ivy's "Knowledge." GD album Insomniac was repped in three songs, while debut album Kerplunk got two and the set closed out with Slappy EP's "Paper Lanterns."
The four-song encore ended with the contemplative "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" a song that would remind everyone of their graduations for decades to come.
