Miley Cyrus Live Debuts Two Songs for Super Bowl LV Pre-Show

Super Bowl halftime spots are much coveted (this year was helmed by The Weeknd) but for 2021 the Tik Tok Tailgate in Tampa for Healthcare Heroes (7,500 vaccinated frontline workers) was kind of a big deal. At least, Miley Cyrus made it so with a spectacularly electric set.
Outfitted in a dark, sparkly cheerleading getup, Miley opened her show at Raymond James Stadium with the first of many covers, Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey." She knocked out "Prisoner" before the first live debut of the evening, the Billy Idol-assisted "Night Crawling" from her newest album, Plastic Hearts. Idol stayed on stage to duet his #1 most-performed song to date, "White Wedding."
Cyrus has been killing the covers game recently, showing off her incredible range - her rendition of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" came mid-set, before a fierce cover of Nine Inch Nails "Head Like A Hole."
She performed "High" for the second time ever, followed by her 2019 collab with Mark Ronson, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart." Her much-loved cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" played into what was the close of Act 1, Plastic Hearts single "Midnight Sky."

Act 2 opened with special guest Joan Jett, who Miley counts as a massive influence. The two live debuted "Bad Karma" before covering Jett's "Bad Reputation" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You." The last cover of the set, and a new one for Miley, was Bikini Kill's "Rebel Girl."

The rest of the set was all Miley originals, including the show-closing "Party In The USA" before an emotional, two-song encore of "Wrecking Ball" and "The Climb."
Fans were so wowed by the performance they got to "manifesting" her spot for the 2022 Super Bowl halftime.
