Setlist Psychic: Silk Sonic

Just shy of a year since their first-ever stage debut at the 63rd Annual Grammys, super-duo Silk Sonic is set to debut their An Evening with Silk Sonic Las Vegas residency – kicking off next Friday at Park MGM's Dolby Live.

With the exception of an intimate Spotify record release show last November, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have only made TV appearances, making this the first-ever full length concert event. While they've opted out of a traditional tour, we're more than willing to trek to Vegas to witness this history and here's why- Marquee acts head to Vegas to make a splash!

Sure, Vegas is a glimmering and glamorous vacation destination but what it can represent for an artist is much more than meets the eye. Stage design, props, lighting and wardrobe can be elevated from the norm as there's no need for travel. Given their '70s throwback appeal, Silk Sonic's aesthetic is a spot-on fit for a Vegas stage and we can't wait to see the spectacle they have in store for it.

With a paltry 31 minutes and 19 seconds on their debut record An Evening with Silk Sonic, a giant question we have to ask is - how will they put together their setlist? Since this must-see show is in "Vegas baby," here are the odds on what you can expect to see at An Evening with Silk Sonic.

Mars and .Paak will have to supplement their track-listing in one of three ways. The obvious method when you consider An Evening with Silk Sonic was crafted to be performed live? Lengthen the jams. Expect to see .Paak behind the drums a great deal driving this effort. We'd also place a high stakes bet on a drum battle moment with .Paak and Mars facing off as a nod to Bruno's iconic 2014 Super Bowl drum solo.

Silk Sonic

Safe bets

  • "Fly as Me"
  • "After Last Night"
  • "Smokin' Out the Window"
  • "Skate"

We're doubling down on these-

  • "777" - this should make the setlist with it's Vegas-inspired lyrics
  • "Leave the Door Open" - Mars recently started closing out his ongoing solo 2021 Las Vegas residency with the latest Silk Sonic #1 hit.

Let's be real, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak also have unparalleled catalogs of their own. While we bet they limit the inclusion of their personal repertoires based on recent interviews, we'd also be stunned if they passed on a song or two from their greatest hits. In crunching the setlist.fm data on their solo efforts, and taking into account the “Silk Sonic sound,” here's our prediction for the likely setlist suspects:

Bruno Mars:

Safe bets

  • "24K Magic" - 217 Plays
  • "Uptown Funk" - 210 Plays

High Odds

  • "That's What I Like" - 198 Plays

Anderson .Paak:

Safe bets

  • "Come Down" - 152 Plays
  • "Heart Don't Stand a Chance" - 132 Plays

High Odds

  • "Am I Wrong" - 128 Plays
  • "Put Me Thru" - 127 Plays

Finally, we can expect to see some covers. As mentioned earlier the only multiple-song performance they've given together yielded three cover songs- Lionel Richie's "All Night Long," Kevin Lyttle's "Turn Me On" and "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5. With RnB jams of that caliber we're certain we'll be seeing more at the show. Based on their fandom, past covers and musical collaborations, here are our best predictions at who we may see nods to:

Possible Artists They'll Cover

  • Babyface
  • Michael Jackson
  • Bootsy Collins
  • Prince
  • Usher
