Today is Olivia Rodrigo's Birthday

At just 18 years old, Olivia Rodrigo became a breakout star in 2021 with the release of her debut single, "drivers license." The heartbreaking song quickly became a chart-topping hit because it was so relatable, tender, and... teen.

The popularity of the singer and the song lifted the release of her debut album, SOUR, later that year, propelled by the singles “good 4 u” and “deja vu.” The album quickly went platinum in the US and has sold over 5 million copies globally.

Her stardom shot so quickly her first concert was not at a little club but at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in 2021, sharing the stage with huge acts like Coldplay and The Weeknd.

In 2022 she went home with three Grammys for her debut including Best New Artist. Quite a way to kick off a music career.

Her followup, GUTS, proved she was no fad and the sophomore jinx had nothing on her.

The Guts World Tour kicked off in February and by April she was at Coachella making a surprise appearance during No Doubt's reunion set, performing "Bathwater" with the band.

In August it was Chappell Roan, who jumped on her stage to dance around to "Hot to Go!" together at the newly built Intuit Dome.

The two singers have a lovely history. Chappell opened for Olivia on the first portion of the Guts Tour, plus the two share producer Dan Nigro who has been an integral collaborator for both the young women. Nigro won Producer of the Year recently at the Grammys.

In interviews Olivia says her first live concert experience was seeing Weezer when she was six at a county fair. Obviously at such a young age it's hard to remember details.

Our database says Rivers and the boys did not play any county fairs during Olivia's sixth year around the sun.

However when our girl was 7 1/2, Weezer did play at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on August 21, 2010 and live debuted "Memories."

The next time you see Olivia ask her if this refreshes her memory.

Olivia has covered 10 different artists live, but never Weezer. Say it ain't so!

But actually, what a great gig that would be? Weezer opening for Olivia. Think of all of her fans who would love to discover how many songs they know but hadn't realized it... all within a very safe rock concert vibe.

On January 30, Olivia returned to the Intuit Dome to perform a pair of tunes for the Fire Aid benefit concerts.

After playing "drivers license" she said a few words her fans who had stayed up all night to hear her.

“Thank you guys so much for having me, thank you so much for being here,” she told the 20,000 fans and first responders before breaking into "deja vu" at the arena in Inglewood.

“It has been so heartbreaking to witness all of this devastation in this incredible city. I love LA so much, I’ve lived here my whole life. I love everybody who lives in LA. You guys are amazing. I find this place so beautiful and so inspiring and I’ve written many songs about living here in my life, like this one. So here goes.”

Olivia has just been named the Sunday night headliner of the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, Canada in August.

Joining her on the bill are Doechii, Finneas, Tyler The Creator, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Cage the Elephant, The Beaches, TV on the Radio and many more.

First she will be back on the road next month starting off with a pair of Lollapaloozas in South America. Guts World Tour 2025 will see her ping-ponging around the globe.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get your tix on her website before they disappear.
