It's happening, it's really happening - Arizona rockers Jimmy Eat World are going on a headlining tour to celebrate 25 years of Bleed American. Although not their debut album (4th, actually) it is their most-performed to date, and the holds the bands top three most-performed songs - the title track, "Sweetness" and the culturally permeating "The Middle."
If you're a Jimmy Eat World fan and it's on your manifest list to travel to an iconic location to see a show, hear this - the tour starts June 9th at RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE in Denver!! Can you FATHOM belting "Salt, sweat, sugar on the asphalt / Our hearts, littering the topsoil!" with thousands of others in such a sacred space for live music? Pretty sure that's what dreams are made of.
All of Bleed American's tracks have been performed live at some point, even the heavy-production "Cautioners," (which they discuss in their Setlist Insider episode), but to hear the album played true to tracklist is sure to be core-memory worthy.
A few more fun facts about some BA songs - The title track was live debuted mid-set during the Clarity tour in Germany. Data is incomplete for that tour, so we can't say if it stayed in the set, but "The Middle" got it's debut closer to home in December of that same year (1999). "Sweetness" was a setlist staple as early as 1998.
Jimmy Eat World first played Red Rocks in 2017, supporting Incubus. They headlined their first show there in 2023 as part of the Amplified Echoes tour. That 17-song setlist included 5 Bleed American songs. We're ready to experience the full force of that album again.
