Metallica will be the latest group to grace the immersive, very futuristic stage at the Sphere in Las Vegas, and it’s an incredible moment for Metalheads everywhere. After months of speculation, James Hetfield and Co. will debut the “Life Burns Faster” residency this fall, with eight shows set for October 2026. In true M72 fashion, the run will continue Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” tradition — meaning no songs will be repeated across each Thursday/Saturday pairing. [Ed. note: six additional dates added]
“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’ says Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f***in’ psyched to go next level!”
For those who have seen a Metallica concert — particularly on the M72 tour that’s run for close to five years now — the band is already known for upgrading the live experience. Their shows feature a 360-degree, in-the-round stage setup that lets the audience experience the show from all angles, along with studio-quality sound and A-list supporting acts like Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills to round out the evening.
But now that they’re heading to the Sphere? Things are about to get louder in a way you’ve never heard before. Metallica hits like “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets,” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls” will suddenly feel like they’re coming from everywhere all at once…because they are. At the Sphere, the 160,000-square-foot LED screen wraps up and over the audience, turning ceilings into sky and backdrops into entire worlds….
Sphere’s directional audio system promises clarity no matter where you’re seated, serving up volume and precision in a way that’s, simply put, metal as all hell. It takes a certain caliber of band to be able to play at the Sphere, but Metallica has more than earned it with their 45-year legacy, and you’ll be transported to an entirely new universe with the Life Burns Faster residency. General onsale tickets are available beginning March 6th at 10am PT.
