There’s headliners…and then there’s Twenty One Pilots. The duo took over Innings Fest this past weekend with one of their most headline-making sets yet — complete with three live debuts, one cover, and countless antics from Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph.
What are we talking about? The fact that you never know where onstage, or off, these men are going to be. For instance, “The Contract” saw Tyler on the piano, and later on the crowd viewing stand during “Ride.” Meanwhile, Josh hit the scaffolding during “RAWFEAR.” This unpredictability is what fans have come to expect from Twenty One Pilots, and the twosome knocked it out of the park (baseball pun intended) at Innings Fest.
The much-anticipated set began as beautifully as you’d expect. After an extended intro to “Overcompensate,” the duo launched into live debut “Center Mass” followed with its extended intro and the now-ritualistic “Josh Dun is my dad” chant booming across the desert. Fans witnessing the first-ever performance of new songs off last year’s Breach knew it was a borderline spiritual moment for “The Skeleton Clique,” which continued throughout the night.
The group also delivered live debuts of “One Way” and “Drag Path,” which fit effortlessly alongside setlist staples like “Heathens,” “Heavydirtysoul,” and “Trees.” They even gave fans a cover of “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes, serving as a full-circle moment for Dun and Joseph. For those who don’t know, Jack White and Co. played a major part in the formation of Twenty One Pilots, and covering their biggest hit in front of the gigantic crowd at Innings Fest?
Simply put, it’s an honor. And by the time they closed with a confetti-heavy “Trees,” it was clear: this isn’t a band coasting on “Stressed Out” nostalgia, but a group that’s found their prime almost a full two decades later. Are you ready to enter the Breach era with Twenty One Pilots? The group is heading overseas this summer for a series of headlining shows and festivals like Rock Werchter 2026, and they hope to see you in the crowd.
