Tour Update: Avenged Sevenfold and Prophets of Rage

Two of the most epic bands in heavy metal and rap metal are about to embark on a "End Of The World" Tour together beginning this summer. These legends will kick-off their jaunt on July 22 in Mansfield, MA and end September 2nd in The Woodlands, TX. They'll also be supported by the Canadian heavy-rock band Three Days Grace.
For Avenged Sevenfold, this will be their third major tour in support of their 2016 seventh studio album, The Stage. Prophets of Rage will be supporting their first and latest Self-Titled release, along with playing major heavy hitters from their vast catalog between Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, and Public Enemy.
We caught up with M. Shadows and Brooks Wackerman of Avenged Sevenfold, and Tom Morello and B.Real of Prophets of Rage, as they sat and conversed for the first time in person at the Setlist.fm studio. Watch our tour update episode where they spill the beans about touring, mantras, and creating a setlist when you have an insane catalog of songs to choose from.
Avenged Sevenfold & Prophets of Rage Prepare For End of the World Tour
M. Shadows on playing songs:
"It’s tough because, if you want to be totally up your own ass, you want to play all the deep cuts and weird stuff, and do whatever you want. But you go out there, and if there’s 15,000 people, probably 1,000 of those people want to hear the deep cuts, and then there’s 14,000 who just want to come hear the bigger songs. It’s always trying to straddle a line with the new record, things that you really know and everyone wants to hear, and then throwing a couple of things for the hardcore, die hard fans who have seen you twenty times already. We have a little bit of certain songs picked out and then there’s certain things we’ll let them [the fans] pick."
Tom Morello on building a setlist:
"It’s a great thing and it’s challenge because we rageify the Public Enemy catalog, we rageify the Cypress Hill catalog, we got the Rage Against the Machine catalog and then we got the Prophets of Rage. So it’s a ton of songs, and it’s a ton of songs that were singles too. So, we gotta find a balance between those and also have something that feels like it’s for right now."
