Ariana Grande Kicks Off Sweetener World Tour with Live Debuts!

Ariana Grande's Sweetener World Tour kicked off last night in Albany, New York and while my predictions for the setlist were mostly right, there's some pretty good surprises in here! Ready to learn everything you need to know about the Sweetener World Tour? Go!
The Sweetener World Tour kick-off featured former Fifth Harmony member Normani as opening support with an 11-track setlist including an Aaliyah cover and both a Rihanna and Fifth Harmony medley! The 22 year-old star even included a dance break which features songs by Britney Spears, Missy Ellliott and Beyoncé, this girl is a force! Normani is scheduled to open for Grande for the remainder of the North American leg which runs through July 13.

Onto the main act, the one, the only, Ariana Grande! The Sweetener World Tour setlist includes 29 tracks plus 3 intermissions and it's heavy on songs from her latest studio albums. In fact, there were only 4 songs missing from 2018's Sweetener and 3 tracks missing from 2019's thank u, next on the setlist! Noticeably absent was my personal favorite thank u, next album track "Ghostin'" which begs the question, will Grande add or swap out songs throughout the tour's run? Only time will tell.
The stage encloses fans in a giant triangle and features half of a giant sphere hanging from the ceiling and bulging from the massive background screen, it's kind of epic and really allows Grande to let her incredible vocals take front and center.
Check out the awesome usage of those spherical screens in her performance of one of the greatest pop songs of our lifetime, "Into You":

While the night was an electrifying display of talent and perfection, Grande seemed to have a bit of a mishap with the finale of "thank u, next" where you can even her Grande say "it wouldn't be opening night without one thing going wrong." It appears there was an issue with her ear-piece or mic? Not sure but you can watch everything go down below and see Grande handle it like the superstar professional she is!

You can see Ariana's full setlist from the kick-off show below and take a peep at her North American dates because this is a show you're not going to want to miss.
