Tool Announce 2019 US Tour + Wrap Up Long-Awaited Album

Tool have plotted a headlining tour around their already announced festival dates in May. And with a new album wrapping up, the alt-metal veterans are sure to bring some of their first new material in years with them on the road.

The newly announced dates will span across seven cities in the US, mainly in the Southwest and Midwest, including: St. Louis, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Des Moines, Iowa.

It will kick off, right after their performance at Welcome to Rockville, on May 7th in Birmingham, Alabama and wrap up with a festival date at the Chicago Open Air Festival. They'll head over to Europe for a full tour shortly after.

During their performances last year, Tool mainly played cuts off Ænima and Laterlus. "The Grudge" was their most performed song in 2018, but "Stinkfist" is their most performed track to date.

Their forthcoming album will be their first full length release since 2006's 10,000 Days! Frontman Maynard James Keenan promised earlier this year that the album will arrive “between mid May and mid July,” and that they would provide “more focused updates to follow as we progress.”

We got one update last week via the band's Facebook of an image of them posing with producer Joe Baressi and engineer Bob Ludwig in the studio:
