Hard rock legend Steven Tyler turns 72 years old today. The Aerosmith frontman has created quite the iconic mark in the rock world, and there’s no better way to celebrate it than to look back at the band’s lively concerts.
Aerosmith played a set at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland, Florida, on this day in 1986. The show was part of the Done with Mirrors Tour, which supported the band’s 1985 comeback record of the same name. The extensive trek lasted from August 1985 to August 1986, where they largely played arena sets. It was the second tour following the reunion of Aerosmith’s classic lineup in 1984.
The 17-song setlist was dominated with tracks we consider staples today. The band opened up with “Back in the Saddle,” followed by the classic “Mama Kin.” They sprinkled in some covers, too, with a performance of Bull Moose Jackson’s “Big Ten Inch Record,” “Red House” by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and closing track “The Train Kept A-Rollin’” by Tiny Bradshaw.
Other staple hits performed include “Sweet Emotion,” which has been played live a whopping 2,263 times, “Lord of the Thighs” and “Lightning Strikes.”
