It still feels too soon and too surreal to talk about the passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Artists and fans all over the world have been sharing stories about his kindness, his passion, his friendship -- once such story was shared by Miley Cyrus, who headlined Lollapalooza Brazil on Saturday (March 26). The Foo Fighters were slated to perform the following final night of the festival.
In the middle of her 21-song set, Miley gave an emotional speech, recounting the last time she spoke to Hawkins: “We had to make this emergency landing and the first person that I called was Taylor, because he was already at the festival. That would’ve been a time that I would’ve gone to see my friend, and I didn’t, so it makes me really sad. I would’ve done anything to hang out with him one more time. I know that I get on stage, and anytime that I get to play with my band – which if anything ever f**king happened to any of them it would f**king kill me, so I couldn’t imagine how the Foo Fighters feel today.”
Miley dedicated Plastic Hearts track, "Angels Like You" to the departed drummer, a song that's only been performed 6 times to date. See footage of the speech + song:
