For those of you asking but WHO is Skating Polly? Well. Skating Polly is a rock band formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2009. Founded by multi-instrumentalist step-siblings Kelli Drew Mayo and Peyton Bighorse who were a mere 9 and 14 years old at the time, respectively. Kelli's brother Kurtis Lee Mayo joined the band on drums in 2017 so that Peyton and Kelli could focus on guitar and bass.
Mayo taught herself to play piano and drums while Bighorse taught herself guitar. They began writing songs, trading off instruments and lead vocal duties. They were discovered by Chris Harris, owner of the small indie label Nice People Records based in Norman, Oklahoma. Harris showed Mayo's Dad the ins and outs of home recording equipment and the duo began recording their first album, Taking Over the World, in their living room.
Skating Polly's music is mash up of indie rock, grunge, and punk. The band has toured throughout the US and Europe, and has shared the stage with The Breeders, Dinosaur Jr., The Flaming Lips and Kate Nash - to name just a few.
In June SP will release their 6th studio album, Chaos County Line.
