Live Photos: Lily Allen Debuts "No Shame" at The El Rey Theater

Grammy nominated Brit Lily Allen made her return to Los Angeles last night, playing to a sold out crowd at the El Rey Theater. Lily played 12 of 14 songs from her forthcoming album, No Shame, out June 8th on Warner Bros Records. One of the LP's standout tracks is “Three,” a heartstring-tugging number supposedly written from the perspective of her child. Watch her recent performance of it on Late Night with Seth Meyers:

Back to the live show: She peppered in a few fan favorites including “Knock ‘Em Out,” “Smile” and “Fuck You,” to which she added the commentary: "I wrote this song about your president 11 years ago and now you got one worse. This goes out to Donald.”
The last time the “LDN” singer played LA was in 2014 at the Hollywood Palladium, supporting her third full length album, Sheezus, which got no setlist love from Lily last night.
The three-song encore began with No Shame’s lead single, “Trigger Bang,” followed by quarter life crisis anthem, “The Fear.” Lily closed the show on a fun note, breaking out her country-tinged romp, “Not Fair” from her ’09 release, It’s Not Me It’s You.

This concludes Lily’s stateside shows—she only scheduled one here in LA, having played a one-off in Brooklyn on the 23rd. We’re hoping once the new album is out, she’ll be inspired to tour the world.
In the meantime, she has a few overseas dates and late last year there was word of a “brutal” memoir, set to print this fall via Blink Publishing. Allen said: “Some of it I think might be uncomfortable and shocking and brutal. There will be good stuff in there too; happy times. I will try and make it funny. I know it’s about me but I hope that a lot of it will ring true with anyone who reads it. It won’t be written with shame. It will be true.”
