Ms. Lauryn Hill Announces 20th Anniversary Tour of "Miseducation"

August 1998 was a blessed time in music history because The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was released. This landmark album featured her rap/singer-songwriter hits "Doo Wop (That Thing)," "Ex-Factor," and "Everything is Everything." It went on to win five grammy awards in 1999, breaking the record for being the first woman to win five times in one night.

Her iconic hits have influenced several hip-hop artists today. You can hear the tracks sampled in Billboard Hot 100 singles like Drake's "Nice For What" and Cardi B's "Be Careful." A celebration of this legendary record may be the one thing that makes sense in 2018.

Ms. Hill will play the album in its entirety. It is her only solo album to date, though she has released a few singles over the years so there could be a chance she'll perform other material during the jaunt. The summer dates kick off on July 5 in Virginia Beach and conclude on October 5 in St. Louis, Missouri. Ms. Hill made a heartfelt statement about the tour:

“This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I Loved and believed deeply in my community's ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.”
