Sofi Tukker Kick Off Treehouse World Tour

Last week Grammy-nominated dance pop duo Sofi Tukker kicked off the North American leg of their Treehouse World Tour, just a few days after the release of their debut album.
“The whole vibe of ‘Treehouse’ is that childhood playful spirit,” vocalist Sophie Hawley-Weld told The Providence Journal. “It’s what we’re all about.” That playful vibe is boldly expressed through their stage production, which includes embellishments on their 2016 on-stage invention, The Book Tree. The Treehouse theme also incorporates vines, flowers and vibrant and inventive lighting design by Tess Falcone.
If these photos don't paint a bright enough picture of the spirit of a Sofi Tukker show, take it from multi-instrumentalist Tucker Halpern, as told to Clevescene.com: “It’s Sophie on guitar and singing. I’m on bass and singing. We have a giant sculpture on stage. We call it the book tree with drum triggers inside the books. You hit them and they play different samples. We do choreographed dancing and crowd surfing. We go crazy. It’s nuts. It’s electronic music. We’re not trying to be a full band. It’s just a fun dance party.
At their sold out hometown show at Brooklyn Steel this past weekend, the "Drinkee" performers paid tribute to the late Tim Bergling, better known as Swedish DJ Avicii. See some fan-shot footage on YouTube.
Sofi Tukker have US dates scheduled through May 27th, their first overseas date is in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 7th. Find the full list of tour dates on their official site.
