The age of the internet, as convoluted as it is, has at the least gifted us with the ability to discover and appreciate a whole new world of sub-genres in music. And with this has come an appreciation for chill, lo-fi bedroom pop. In a sea of Soundcloud musicians, there are plenty of stand-out acts who continue to rise to stardom, and one of those artists is British musician Sam Lewis, moniker SG Lewis.
The 23-year-old DJ, performer and producer has crafted quite the resume for himself, equipped with catchy remixes and tasty collabs featuring artists like Clairo and G Eazy. The Brit has made his way to the States for his Coachella debut. He's managed to land a coveted set time at the fest - Day 1 at 5:25PM in the Mojave tent.
At this point in the festival, the anticipated Coachella excitement has rocketed through your body, and a day in the sun has probably exhausted your soul. You need to recharge for the night and there's literally no better way than hitting up the Mojave tent to let Lewis lift you back up with his soulful singles.
Lewis has stamps of approval from the likes of Justin Timberlake and Pharrell, and he's been selling out shows all year long. Let's take a minute to listen to some of his tasty tunes.
It's as if Lewis makes singles especially for a festival setting. Imagine consuming these licks while laying on the grass, cooling off, rehydrating (please drink plenty of water), or dancing, depending on your energy level at that point. You can expect music lovers from all genres at this set, there's literally nothing offensive about his music. He manages to marry soul, R&B, pop and electro in a single track.
