Hall & Oates Play 10-Song Set for MTV in 2003 on John's Birthday

It's not just any day in April, it's John Oates' 74th Birthday! One half of one of the greatest soul rock bands, Hall & Oates, we're honoring the legendary guitarist's special day with a throwback setlist!

On this day in 2003, the rock and soul duo performed at Ocean in London as part of MTV UK's fifth annual Five Night Stand festival. The now non-existent festival always featured big name acts in an intimate setting. The capacity of the venue was 2,100. Tickets were affordable but sold out quickly. A different band would perform on a separate night, and on April 7th, the night of John's Birthday, Hall & Oates performed a special, 10-song set.

At that point in their storied career, they had just released their SIXTEENTH studio album - Do It for Love. They performed four songs that night off of the release - the title track, "Forever for You," "Getaway Car," and "Man on a Mission," which has only been performed 16 times to date.

The night opened with "Adult Education," a song that's only been performed around 109 times. They also did a handful of their hits like "Out of Touch," "Sara Smile," and "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)."

The rare evening ended on a cover of Billy Paul's "Me and Mrs. Jones," which they've performed 24 times, the last being in 2007.
