When Madonna burst onto the mainstream scene with her legendary hit, "Like A Virgin," she conquered the charts reaching the No. 1 spot in Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States. The single, which helped catapult Madonna to the top, was just the beginning for the young girl from Michigan. A controversial (and forever iconic) performance at the first-ever MTV Video Music Awards in 1984, a string of hits all followed up with The Virgin Tour the following year, helped establish Madonna as the "it" pop star, setting the trend for an onslaught of copycats and wannabes.

The Virgin Tour launched on April 10, 1985 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington. This show marked the opening night of her first-ever concert tour, the first of 40 shows across the US.

If you're a Madonna fan, at one point or another you probably owned the VHS or Laser Disc copy of The Virgin Tour, you know it from start to finish, you rehearsed it in the mirror, don't lie! Let's take a stroll down memory lane with the Queen of Pop, shall we? Digging through out setlist.fm data, we found the setlist from Madonna's opening night of The Virgin Tour to be quite revealing as 9 of the 13 songs on the setlist were performed for the very first time that evening! Imagine being in attendance at the opening night show!?

The Virgin Tour opened with "Dress You Up" followed by "Holiday" before moving into the first-ever performance of "Into the Groove." Other songs that made their premieres that evening include "Angel," "Gambler," "Borderline," "Lucky Star," "Crazy For You," "Over and Over," "Burning Up," and "Material Girl."
