The Strokes are everywhere these days…Coachella, our playlists, and soon, across the globe on a newly-announced US trek. The indie darlings have announced the “Reality Awaits” tour for this summer, kicking off on June 12th at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN. They’ll visit cities like Noblesville, IN, Cincinnati, OH, Morrison, CO, and more before finishing up on August 8th in San Francisco, CA.
Despite a relatively quiet period following 2020’s The New Abnormal, the band shows no signs of slowing down in 2026. They made headlines this past weekend for their Coachella set, while also releasing a new single, “Going Shopping,” last week. This track sat comfortably on the festival setlist alongside old favorites like “The Adults Are Talking” and “Reptilia,” ushering in a new era for the New York City-based group.
Their seventh album, Reality Awaits, drops June 26, marking their first new release in six years. The rollout has been…very Strokes. Low key and slightly chaotic, with a new song appearing in the wild like they haven’t been laying low for the better part of a decade. But when The Strokes return, they leave nothing to the imagination. This new single shows the band in their prime — where old-school indie meets modern ethereal sound….
Which signals what we can expect from the rest of Reality Awaits. If anything, it picks up right where The New Abnormal did — that mix of clean production, slightly detached vocals, and guitars that feel both fresh and worn-in at the same time. It appeals to the fans who have been there since 2001 and those who just discovered The Strokes on the live Coachella stream.
