Mötley Crüe Played 15-Song Set on Mick Mars' Birthday in 1990

May the Fourth be with Mick Mars, who turns 69-years-old today. Mötley Crüe's legendary lead guitarist, born Robert Alan Deal, solidified Crüe's sound with his aggressive yet melodic solos.

To celebrate Mars' birthday, we're remembering an iconic concert Crüe performed on May 4th, 1990 in Sydney, Australia on their epic and highly successful Dr. Feelgood World Tour.

The tour was in support of their fifth studio album Dr. Feelgood, which is regarded by fans and critics as their best record. The show landed on Leg 4 of the massive world tour, hitting up cities and countries in the Australasia region.

It was night two at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and the glam metal icons came rushing out to perform a show that would blow their fans minds.

Their shows were regarded for its high shock value, with stunts like Nikki Six smashing his bass, and then you have birthday boy Mars "sending it," as the Aussies would say, with his calculated riffs and grinding solos.

They fired off the show with the tour's song opener "Kickstart My Heart," a Dr. Feelgood favorite. The 15-song setlist was a showcase of all their successes up to that point. Fans who attended these concerts got everything from "Red Hot," "Too Young to Fall in Love," and "Shout at the Devil," to "Slice of Your Pie" and their popular rendition of "Smokin' in the Boys Room."

Mars showed off his chops with an extended guitar solo before Tommy Lee did a psycho solo on the drums. They ended the main set with "Girls, Girls, Girls" before coming back out to encore THREE sweet licks: "Without You," "Home Sweet Home" and "Dr. Feelgood."
