Paramore kicked off their North American arena tour last night (May 23) at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band hit the stage at 9PM and played until 11:15, doling out 22 songs and two live debuts.
They opened the set with "You First" and "The News" off their most recent LP, This is Why, which was most heavily represented - 8 of 10 songs made the cut ("C'est Comme Ca" and "Thick Skull" being the odd two out).
Ten songs in they live debuted "Big Man, Little Dignity" before moving to the B-stage to perform "Liar" and "Crystal Clear" from Hayley Williams' solo album Petals for Armor.
Back on the A-stage they rocked through After Laughter's "Hard Times" and "Told You So" before the second and final live debut of the night, "Figure 8."
Before "The Only Exception" Hayley gave a speech about this album cycle being about them "ready to reclaim things they felt weren't ours anymore" and no matter how many times you've loved and lost and felt embarrassed about it... "just keep going, baby." (Peep the speech on subreddit)
As expected, they brought a fan on stage for MizBiz (she killed it) and closed the main set with Ain't it Fun. The encore was "Still Into You" and title track "This Is Why." See the full setlist from kickoff night + some more fan footage below.
