Halestorm was one of many bands that graced the stage at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, FL, last weekend. However, their set was one of the most-talked-about for many reasons! The band debuted five new songs from their upcoming fifth album, Everest, while the crowd also went wild for the Halestorm classics.
They began the Halestorm set with a bang, performing a live debut of “Fallen Star” that was hot and heavy in all the best ways. We’re not just talking about the Florida humidity, but also frontwoman Lzzy Hale’s gruff-but-gorgeous vocals that have inspired countless women in metal. The excitement continued with more live debuts of “WATCH OUT!,” “Darkness Always Wins,” “Rain Your Blood On Me” and “Everest.”
And those in attendance can attest… it seemed like every new Halestorm song was even better than the last. Everest marks their first new record in nearly three years, and they’ve clearly perfected every rhythmic chorus and groundbreaking guitar riff. The project has been described as “a story of our journey as a band, full of beautiful endings and new beginnings,” featuring “a tangled web of melancholy, frustration, anger, and the vast purgatory of love and love lost.”
So needless to say, the emotions are running high with the new Halestorm record. And that’s exactly how they like it. The sonic fury continued at Welcome to Rockville with not only the live debuts, but also the older songs that Halestorm fans know and love. This is a band who’s owned the metal scene for nearly three decades, after all, and they drew major applause with staples like “Uncomfortable,” “Freak Like Me,” “I Miss the Misery” and “Love Bites (So Do I).”
Even as the Halestorm segment winded down, the energy from the audience never ceased. How can it be when you have such a charismatic frontwoman standing in front of you? Even better, they’ve announced a Halestorm tour happening later in 2025 to coincide with the release of Everest on August 8th… and it’s going to be epic.
