Setlist History: Guns N' Roses First Show

It is hard to believe that 37 years ago today (June 6, 1985) these rock legends had their debut performance. Guns N' Roses took the stage at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California to start their short West Coast tour. At this time the band was made up of Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, Slash Hudson, Steven Adler, and Izzy Stradlin. The so-called "Hell Tour" traveled from San Fransisco to Seattle and left the band hitch-hiking their way up the coast with only their guitars after their van broke down.

"This trip had set a new benchmark for what we were capable of, what we could and would put ourselves through to achieve our goals as a band." - McKagan

The band finalized their setlist two days before their debut performance at the Troubadour. They performed a 10-track setlist that included "Anything Goes" and "Think About You" off their soon to be released album Appetite For Destruction. GNR also covered "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by The Rolling Stones, "Nice Boys" by Rose Tattoo, "Heartbreak Hotel" by Elvis Presley, and "Shadow of Your Love" by Hollywood Rose.

Guns N' Roses Setlist

Since their debut performance in 1985, Guns N' Roses has continuously been touring and have carried tracks from their original setlist with them. We have seen "Don't Cry" on almost every one of the band's setlist, being performed nearly 400 times. "Think About You" was a popular choice for their setlist up until 2006. On the other hand, "Anything Goes" hasn't been performed since 1988 and "Back off Bitch" hasn't hit the stage since 1991.
