The Chicks Kick Off Summer Tour with Eight Live Debuts

Last night (June 15) country icons The Chicks kicked off the headlining tour at the Hollywood Casino Amp in St. Louis, Missouri. It was their first show of the year, their first full concert since 2017 (ACL) and their firs major tour since DCX MMXVII, which wrapped in April of 2017. The Chicks - Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer - are supporting their 2020 album Gaslighter, and of their 22-song setlist from opening night, EIGHT of them were live debuts.

The trio kicked off their show with their 2nd most-performed song to date, "Sin Wagon" and title track "Gaslighter" before treating fans to the first live debuts of the evening "Texas Man" and "Julianna Calm Down." See some fan footage of "Texas Man":

"Hope It's Something Good" got its live debut six songs in, followed by the third-ever performance of "Sleep at Night" (debuted on The Today Show in July 2020).

After covering tour mate Patty Griffin's "Truth #2" and belting out their most-performed song to date, "Wide Open Spaces," they live debuted the lovely little kiss-off track, "Tights on my Boat" - watch:

"March March" and "For Her" got their debuts during the latter half of the set, along with "Everybody Loves You" and "Young Man." The only two Gaslighter tracks NOT included in the set were "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Set Me Free" (perhaps they'll turn up later in the tour?)

They closed the two hour show with "Not Ready to Make Nice" and "Goodbye Earl" and left the stage while Beyoncé's "Formation" was playing from a tape.
