Noah Kahan might be from out of town, but when he performed at the world famous Hollywood Bowl Friday he was treated like a hometown favorite.
The LA Times wrote: No Vermonter has been greeted with such arena-rock delirium since Bernie Sanders.
Fans cheered, sang along, bought merch, and packed the 17,500 historic venue that has hosted The Beatles, The Stones, The Doors, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Best of all, they did it two nights in a row, June 20 and June 21.
Currently barnstorming around North American, the long-haired troubadour performed most of the cuts from the original Stick Season LP along with most of the Stick Season (We'll All Be Here Forever) bonus tracks.
He also performed two unreleased tunes, "Pain is Cold Water" and "The Great Divide" he only began playing this year.
So basically the vast majority of songs Kahan performed over the two beautiful nights in the Hollywood Hills came from music that's merely two years old at most.
When the Times claims Kahan's records have "captured TikTok’s Gen Z romantics," let it be known there are few more romantic places to be than under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl on a cloudless, warm summer night.
No wonder those kids were singing with every word.
It was a lighthearted affair with Kahan joking that he was “at least a 9 in Vermont” but, sadly, just a two in LA -- and a zero in Venice.
But the biggest cheer came when he invited Reneé Rapp and Towa Bird on stage to close out the show with the title track of Stick Season.
Rapp has been on a tear this year beginning when she got to be on Sesame Street with Elmo, then at Coachella when she performed "Tik Tok" with Kesha, she got to set the record straight about not-really hating Boston any more while she was at Boston Calling.
Now she's on stage with one of the hottest singer songwriters of her generation singing his hit song alongside him and her sweetie, Towa Bird.
There are so many young, popular performers out there that if they toured together could be their own traveling Lollapalooza / Lilith Fair in domed football stadiums if they wanted that sort of thing this winter.
Imagine a bill of Lana Del Rey, Megan Thee Stallion, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Reneé Rapp, Otoboke Beaver, and Megan Moroney. Who wouldn't go to that?
Kahan was very wise to bring out Ms. Rapp who will probably be playing the Bowl sooner than later as a headliner and whose audiences have lots of crossover.
Catch Kahan if you can as he will be traveling around North America through August, but heads up, many of those shows are sold out or nearly sold out, so get your tickets on his website.
