What do you do if your favorite band rolls into town and sells out the biggest football stadium for miles, on two consecutive nights?
And what do you do if we're talking a Texas heat so sweltering that the band issues a statement for attendees alerting them that the doors would not be opening until evening and no one should wait out in the sun outside, ironically, Sun Bowl stadium?
Scores of Coldplay fans ignored the serious warnings and climbed the mountains surrounding the 45,000 capacity stadium to catch a glimpse of the British group recently (6/13, 6/14) in El Paso. And the band couldn't help but notice.

“I see you," singer Chris Martin said as video cameras projected the dedicated fans on the giant screens around the stage.
"Afuera el estadio, en la montaña," he said in shockingly good Spanish, which translates to: outside the stadium, on the mountain.
"I see you… and we welcome you too,” he told them.
During their "Jumbotron Song" on 6/13, where a camera pans to members of the audience and Chris improvises a sweet little tune about the person's hat or clothes or look, the video screen showed the singer and the audience the people enjoying the show atop the mountain side.
"Holy shit. Hello," he said when it displayed a woman in jean shorts sitting sideways among the weeds and brush high above the stadium.

When the camera panned in, her date raised his arms and Chris sang, "hello my beautiful brother and sister/ Thank you for waving to me / But I hope you get some good sleep / Your tickets were very cheap / In fact your tickets were fucking free."
It was very sweet.
Coldplay fans in Texas were extremely dedicated.
As the local NBC news outlet in El Paso showed, not only did some devotees drive 9 hours to get there, but many disobeyed the warnings and still arrived early to get into the stadium despite temps of 105 and 107 for each of the nights.
At 7:30am the band tweeted suggestions for their fans so there wouldn't be any issues.
"Bring a refillable plastic water bottle. There are water stations where you can refill," they tweeted in a unique graphic. "The Sun Bowl is an open stadium, so apply sunscreen. Avoid consuming too much alcohol when in the venue. It will dehydrate you. Wear light clothing to allow the air to circulate. Wear a hat and sunglasses. If you are feeling too hot, seek shade wherever you can."
The caring, gentle, peaceful tone that permeates the band's songs and ethos could come off as schtick if it was being said by nearly any other group, but this is something Coldplay has remained true to since their beginnings some the late 1990s when they formed the band.
Rarer still is the fact that all four members of the original group Martin (vocals, piano), Jonny Buckland (lead guitar), Guy Berryman (bass), and Will Champion (drums) have been constant members since the band's formal formation in 1997–98.
The list of groups that have maintained their original members for over 25 years is extremely short: U2, Radiohead, Phish, ZZ Top (until Dusty Hill’s death in 2021), and Coldplay.
Maybe it's that gentleness that we saw Martin treat his fans on that mountain is emblematic of how he has treated his band all these years and why they've all stuck together.
“Thank you for hanging out together like one big family and proving how easy that is if we just decide to treat each other with empathy,” he told the crowd near the end of the opening night gig.
Coldplay is taking a little break to cool off until next month when they head to Toronto for a four night residency at that beautiful dome. Then back to the states through the end of July. In August they jet to the UK which will include a massive 10-night residency at Wembley Stadium.
