The British-based indie band gave their fans a special gift at their stop in Northern California. On Sunday (6/9), the Mumford & Sons performed a brand new song, “Icarus" during their 21-song set at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley.
In an Instagram post in January of this year, the band announced their fifth studio album, titled RUSHMERE. This came shortly after Mumford & Sons took a small hiatus from new releases and a rebrand in 2021. Currently, the band is made up of singer Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane, and Ben Lovett. After the popularity of the new album, released in March of this year, the band dropped their first list of cities that they were going to be performing in, which later expanded.
After playing “Ditmas” from the middle of the crowd, Marcus introduced “Icarus” by saying, “I am glad to say that in six years we wrote more than 10 songs and we thought we’d play one off the next record!” The crowd cheered with excitement as they became the first fans to hear this unreleased song live.
Over the past few years, the band has slowly expanded their setlists with this tour having a longer showtime, an estimated hour and fifty-five minute performance.
In addition to their live debut, Mumford & Sons also played their classic hits such as “I Will Wait,” “The Cave,” and “Dust Bowl Dance.”

Will we hear more from this still-unannounced 6th album on this tour? Stay tuned. It resumes tomorrow night at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Complete list of dates below.
