Minus the Bear Announce Final Tour + EP Before They Call It Quits

It's true—after 17 years, Minus the Bear have announced that they will be breaking up. The Seattle math-rockers—Jake Snider, Dave Knudson, Cory Murchy, and Alex Rose, as well as touring member Joshua Sparks—founded their band in 2001. Their technical guitar playing overlaid by untouchable melodies and poetic lyricism made any indie teen from the years 2002 - 2008 swoon. Their career only grew from there and they made a total of six studio albums and six EPs.

On their Facebook Page today, the band made an official statement regarding their break up.

"After almost two decades of writing and touring the world together, we have decided to close this chapter of our lives as Minus the Bear." Adding "We’ve accomplished so much over the past 17 years, and we are grateful for the experience."
Minus the Bear Farewell

The indie-rock veterans will not leave us in vain, however. With this announcement, they also unveiled a new EP alongside a final tour. Fair Enough will be released on Suicide Squeeze Records on October 19th. The tour will kick off October 9th in Nashville, Tennessee, and rightfully end with an all-out hometown show in Seattle on December 14th. Caspian and Tera Melos will be the tour support.
