Panorama 2018 Festival Highlights

Mother Nature certainly put a damper on this weekend at Panorama fest as not a single day of the festival went by without at least one cancellation. The festival did seemingly overcome the wave of storms and cancellations with epic performances from Janet Jackson, SZA, St. Vincent, David Byrne, and more. If you weren't on the (extremely muddy) grounds of Panorama, here's what you missed out:

First let's start with the cancellations:

Around 5 PM on Friday, Day 1 had to be abandoned and evacuated which meant canceling sets from Father John Misty, The War on Drugs, Migos, The Weeknd, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dua Lipa, and more.

Then on Saturday, Lil Wayne's flight had been delayed and the festival announced that the rapper would not be able to make it to New York in time for his set.

Finally, on Sunday, Greta Van Fleet announced on Twitter that they would be unable to perform because their drummer has been playing with injured fingers but it had reached a point where he couldn't even pick up a drumstick.

Now for better parts of Panorama...

Saturday:

St. Vincent

Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, destroyed her Saturday night set with a “rock band” version of her Masseduction show. She won over the disappointed crowds with a seemingly never-ending multi-colored supply of her signature Ernie Ball guitars and older cuts like “Cruel,” “Cheerleader,” “Digital Witness,” and “Marrow.” Check out her setlist from her Panorama set below:

SZA

With only a 50-minute slot, SZA tried to squeeze as much as she possibly could into her set. She exclusively performed tracks off her 2017 album, CTRL opening with "Supermodel" and closing with "20 Something" (just as the album does.) With no surprise, SZA dominated the stage as she ran around showing us a load of attitude, and rapping to Kendrick Lamar's and Travis Scott's guest verses on her songs. Check out her setlist below:

Gucci Mane

Gucci was faced with many technical issues during his set, including an interruption of his wife's, Keyshia Ka'Oir's, onstage cameo. The rapper saved his set with an acapella spitting of his 2009 hit "Lemonade" before his DJ dropped the actual beat.

Janet Jackson

The superstar took the stage for the headlining set of Day 2 with a career-spanning setlist, powerful and politically driven video footage, three wardrobe changes, a staged dance-off, and more. She opened her set with a performance of “The Skin Game (Part 1)” that was introduced by video footage of white supremacy and terrorism. Later in the night, she performed "Together Again" in dedication to her father Joe Jackson, who recently passed away. She then performed her track with brother Micheal Jackson, "Scream," before ending her set with her classics "Rhythm Nation" and "State of the World." Watch fan-footage of her set below:

Sunday:

Fleet Foxes

The Seattle indie rockers took the stage with the sunset as a backdrop. They performed a set centered around their 2017 Crack-Up album but made sure to include their iconic tracks like “Blue Ridge Mountains,” “White Winter Hymnal,” and "Mykonos." Check out their full setlist below:

The XX

This set brought tears to both the fans and the band as it marked the final stop on their extensive, 138-date 'I See You' world tour. As the band was finishing their 11-track setlist they told the crowd:

"The first writing sessions we did for this album were in New York, our first show was here in New York, so it’s perfect to finish it here."

The Killers

For the last set of Panorama 2018, The Killers took the stage with their 2008 single "Spaceman." The band performed hit after hit, soaring the crowd into a whirlwind of nostalgia and screaming (probably leaving many fans with damaged vocal cords.) Their set did everything but lack fan engagement, including bringing up a fan to drum on "For Reasons Unknown." Check out their full setlist from Panorama 2018 below:
