Setlist Psychic: Smashing Pumpkins "Shiny and Oh So Bright" Tour

The Smashing Pumpkins Shiny and Oh So Bright tour has been a long time coming. When they first released the teaser video for the tour, I got goosebumps. Smashing Pumpkins are finally back and reuniting the original line-up (sans OG bassist D'arcy Wretzky). Billy Corgan has been touring under the moniker "Smashing Pumpkins" for a few years now, but this tour features the real deal, folks, and we couldn't be happier.

The tour will bestow all the classics, nothing less and nothing more. They already did some warm-up gigs a couple weeks ago with a secret show at the Troubadour and private House Party that was themed after their "1979" music video. Those setlists gave us some insight on what they'll be playing when they kick off their expansive amphitheater tour on the 12th in Glendale, Arizona; but with rumors of two + hour sets, we're dying to know what other cuts they'll include.

In a statement the band revealed that they'd be playing materials off the first five albums. That's a lot of material to sift through and it's all out on the table, but don't worry, my psyche is so in tune with the Pumpkins that I've come up with these setlist predictions that Billy Corgan and the boys telepathically sent over to me. Since we already know the tracks are coming off the first five, let's do this album-by-album.

Gish

"Rhinoceros" and "Siva" were played at their recent secret shows so they'll for sure appear on this tour's setlist. "Siva" is also their 11th most played song live. "I Am One" hasn't been played since 2013, but it's the second most performed track off the album and will probably make it back to the stage this year. I have a good feeling they may throw in "Window Paine" and "Bury Me" at some point too.

Siamese Dream

This is the Pumpkins' most popular album and the most influential to '90s pop culture. Expect to hear a ton of songs off this record during the tour. You'll definitely hear "Today," "Cherub Rock" and "Disarm," as they fall in the top five most played songs category. You'll probably hear "Silverf*ck," "Rocket," "Hummer," "Mayonnaise," "Soma" and "Geek U.S.A." You MAY get lucky and hear "Luna" and "Sweet Sweet."

"Today" LIVE - Smashing Pumpkins

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Another popular album by the rock gods, totaling a whopping 28-tracks between two discs, there's a lot of material to choose from here, but we are confident about these cuts. "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," the number one most played song by the band, will probably be on every setlist. "Tonight, Tonight," "Zero," and "1979" will also definitely make it on most setlists. Some cities will for sure witness "Porcelain of the Vast Oceans," "Muzzle," "Thru the Eyes of Ruby" and "X.Y.U."

"Tonight, Tonight" LIVE - Smashing Pumpkins

Adore

This 1998 release has a few good jams. You'll definitely hear "Ava Adore," "To Shelia" and "Perfect." You MAY hear "Shame," "For Martha" and "Blank Page."

MACHINA/ the machines of Gods

Ah, the initial, final album before their first break-up in 2000, and the third most performed collection of material. Here's what you can expect to hear from their fifth studio album: "Stand Inside You Love," "The Everlasting Gaze," "Heavy Metal Machine," and "Glass and the Ghost Children."

New Tracks

So, Corgan recently teased that the band are returning to the studio and working on a comeback album. They already reworked the single "Solara" from the '90s film Singles, and played it at their secret shows, so you can definitely expect this track to make it on most setlists this tour. Here are the other new songs that have been announced that we may get a taste of in a live setting, at some point: "Alienation," "Travels," "Silvery Sometimes," "With Sympathy," "Marchin’ On," "Knights of Malta," and "Seek And You Shall Destroy."

Rare Tracks

You bet that the band will be throwing in some rare licks at these shows. Here's what we think (or at least want) will make a return to the stage: "By Starlight," "Cupid De Locke," "Tristessa," "Spaceboy," "Galapagos," and "Lily (My One and Only)."

Head back on Friday to put our predictions to the test. Catch their full tour dates on their website.
