The Psychedelic Furs kicked off a new tour over the weekend in Canada in Toronto at REBEL. The band has had a recent resurgence in popularity thanks to being featured on the Stranger Things soundtrack, which has been introducing young generations to lots of iconic 80s artists. The Psychedelic Furs are joined on this tour by fellow British band of the 80s and 90s, James, pioneers of the Madchester scene.
In Toronto, James performed first with a 10 song opening set. The band played a mixture of old and new material, including songs such as “Heads” and “Leviathan” from their 2018 album Living in Extraordinary Times, as well as 80s hits like “Come Home.” They closed with one of their biggest hits, “Laid,” the title track of their 1993 album. Next up were the Psychedelic Furs, who opened their set with the 1980 hit “Heaven.” They continued to play a brief but sweet 12 song set packed with some of their biggest hits, including “The Ghost in You” and “Pretty in Pink.” They ended with an encore of “India.” See their full setlist here too!
They went on to perform in London, Ontario and then at the Ottawa Blues Fest. James changed up their setlist order each night but continued to perform around 10 songs each night. Psychedelic Furs having been keeping their setlists the same.
