Blur Play 'Darren' in Entirety, Encores With Rarities

Blur treated its most devoted fans to a very special evening July 25 at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in London.

They performed their new album, The Ballad of Darren, in its entirety, and then for an encore doled out a half dozen rarities and B-sides.

Fans who came to sing woooo hoooo were disappointed as "Song 2" was not performed.

"Barbaric" from Blur's new album The Ballad of Darren.

This was about Darren and hardcore fans who get a chill when they get to hear songs rarely performed.

Blur, coming off a series of gigs at giant festivals, including a pair at Wembley Stadium earlier this month, gave the 5,000 at the Apollo seven live debuts (mostly from Darren)

Including the first performance ever of "Theme from an Imaginary Film" which was written during 1994's Parklife sessions.

Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree were accompanied by a string section which really added to the richness of songs like "...Imaginary Film."

The encore contained "Pyongyang" from The Magic Whip, which was only played a handful of times on the tours to support that album.

Blur is continuing on their world tour in Europe and then Japan. Tickets are available on their website.
